Nice unit, but Cortana talking all the time is annoying as hell. The unit is slow to boot and a little clunky so buy as much RAM as possible it helps. Otherwise the unit is great. I run Dj and recording software on it and frankly it’s great except for compiling a max down or video it takes a bit of time but having a CD player on the side is nice ... show more

I bought the basic configuration. My friend is a tech savvy and helped me upgrade the RAM from 4GB to 8GB and replace the 500GB HDD to 256 GB SSD. The laptop runs significantly faster than when i received it. It can run more than 10 tabs at the same time under Google Chrome web browser. Remember to update windows before installing any softwares; remove bloatwares when replacing the hd to ssd and clean install the windows 10. Mine comes with windows 10 S (New from Microsoft), do not like it. You can switch to regular windows 10 by turning off the S mode: 1. Press the Start button located at the bottom left of your screen; 2. Select the Settings icon, located just above the power icon on the Start menu; 3. Select Update & Security in the Settings app; 4. Select Activation, and then select Go to Store; 5. Select the "Get" option under "Switch out of S mode"; 6. Then hit Install when ready to proceed. 7. The process to switch out of S mode is seconds (maybe about five to be exact). You do not need to restart the PC for it to take effect. You can just continue on and start installing .exe apps now in addition to apps from the Microsoft Store. ... show more

We bought 2(TWO) HP laptops for our 2 teen boys in July/2019. => One laptop come DEFECTIVE FROM FABRIC right from the get-go. Because we traveled abroad for 2 months, and we couldn'd return it within the 30 days of purchase, Amazon just accepted to refund only about 65% of the amount paid. We contact HP, and after a lot of argument they agreed to refund only $50 dollars and the rest they offered us some kind of accessories, those that they give as promotion, and to avoid a loss we accepted. Still they got the better deal in that bargain. => The second laptop worked fine for about 3 months and then it was like in loading state permanently. From start up, every command was like a long time to open the window, so it was impossible for the kids to have homework done. We are not here trying to build a website, folks. What I'm talking about is, what the kids were doing was basic stuff, like searches on the web, or writing an essay for school, even that would be a great ordeal to make those laptop to work. I contact HP 6 month from the purchase, and Customer Service said the warranty had expired. I said to them that the warranty was supposed to be valid for one (1) whole year. Then they said it was expired. So I insisted that I purchased it in July 2019, only six (6) months prior, how could it be? Then they asked for the proof of purchase. Only then we assumed that IT WAS A REFURBISHED LAPTOP THAT THEY SOLD AS BRAND NEW, THEY ADVERTISED IT AS BRAND NEW, NEVER USED, BUT IT WAS BOLONEY! I still believe that those laptops were returned products that they refurbished and resold to us as brand new ones. So came the CORONAVIRUS AND THE PANDEMIC, our kids had to have online classes and one laptop gone with defect from manufacture, and the other one could not even work from start up. I tried to call HP for at least 2 times during pandemic, and no answer, if there was a answer, it had an endless "hold on", obligating one to give up. So the kids had to use our laptops- my and my husband's, and for only 8 months that we bought those 2 laptops, they were left alone, neglected on the table for at least 5 months. PIECE OF CRAP! USELESS! Finally came the end of school, and vacation time. Then in July expired the warrant and HP never answered the phone, nor called back. By the end of August 2020, 1 year and 1 month later we bought those garbage HP laptops, the school decide to have classes online only, and we needed the laptops working, and working well. I contacted again HP, and THEY DID NOTHING FOR US, besides to check if it had any hardware problems thru long distance troubleshooting, and also with all the problems we had, I finally spoke with a kind of "supervisor/ lousy manager" that asked me if we wanted "a recovery flash drive which has a regular cost of $68.90; they would apply a discount and I would give it to us for $40.00." What a nerve!! They gave us two days to decide to accept this offer or not, I mean, we had to SPEND MORE MONEY BUYING ANOTHER JUNK FROM HP IN ORDER TO GET SOME KIND OF HELP WITH THE OTHER JUNK LAPTOPS WE BOUGHT FROM THEM. I CALLED THEM SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE 1 YEAR WARRANTY WITH NO SUCCESS, they blamed the pandemic even when there wasn't pandemic during that 1 year warranty (in 2019) and they failed to help us. So here you have the true, folks, you buy whatever you want. Good luck with that. For us it was definitely a money loss. For the love of God and the country I beg you: STAY AWAY FROM ALL HP CRAP. =>One thing for sure I will tell you: AS LONG AS I LIVE, I WILL NEVER EVER BUY HP LAPTOP AGAIN. I'm telling you folks, it's a piece of junk!! BAD LAPTOPS, BAD PERFORMANCE, BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE, BAD SUPERVISOR / MANAGER, BAD WARRANTY, BAD EVERYTHING ALL ALONG. ... show more

Bought this for wife, she loves it. Even loves the S Mode. I wanted her to switch out of S mode so I could upgrade virus protection but she didn't want to. Likes it the way it is, S Mode is really secure. I looked for a few weeks for a Laptop for her, almost bought another one a little cheaper, glad I got her this one instead. Being upgraded to 8GB Ram and upgraded processor by seller it was a steal! Nice laptop computer with great resolution and it's screaming fast! Highly recommend!! ... show more

I like that it has a full keyboard as well as a number key pad. I like that it has a CD/DVD player/recorder which seems to be getting eliminated from every laptop these days. The size of it was perfect for what I wanted and very light weight for a larger laptop. all though the placement of the ON/OFF switch was not very well thought out. It sits just above the ESC key which can be easily hit without really trying. So that's seems to be its biggest flaw. The second flaw is it comes preloaded with Microsoft EVERYTHING. Its basically connected to Microsoft system rather you want it or not. So, If you don't know much about how to get away from that your stuck with their set up! The system came set up to use ONLY MICROSOFT SOFTWARE "CAPABILITIES". Except you have to buy that software separately. Their preloaded adware is however is completely FREE OF CHARGE! ... show more
