Description

The compression cutters are designed with both up and down-cut flutes. The top portion of the length of cut, closest to the shank, has a left hand spiral, forcing chips down. when using the compression bit, you must ensure the first pass is below the upcut portion of the bit, or you will get results similar to just cutting with an upcut bit; Using a ramp in, plunging into the material over a distance instead of all at once, and a lead in, starting outside the design to get to the pass depth, it will ensure that the entire piece is super clean on the top and bottom. Compression bits are designed to cut in a single pass, however, if your machine cannot handle that depth of cut you can cut in multiple passes, as long as that first pass is below the upcut portion of the bit. Compression bit is the combination of both upcut and downcut spirals. The bottom of the material will be pulled upwards while the top of the material is pushed downwards thus eliminating the risk of damaging the laminated surfaces, leaving a sharp, clean edge on both sides of your workpiece.
