Update- there customer service is very good. They offered me a full refund which I actually declined because this vice does work and I am using it. The arms are just not very deep. I increased from 2 stars to 3 based on customer service. They even offered to send me pictures and drawings if they make a new model that might work better for me so I can give feedback. I’d recommend they add detailed measurements to the description so you know the bottom of the jaws of the vice are only about 1/2” away from the screw/bolt/shaft that closes the vice. Very shallow grip which may be great for some people. It just is too shallow for chain saw sharpening Previous review below…… The depth of the clamps is very minimal. I have a narrow 18" chainsaw bar. I got these to help by clamping the vice to my work table and then planned on putting the bar into the vice. It is barely deep enough to put the bar on their without the chain bottoming out and hitting the vice. It's just a bit too shallow. Also the clamp to go onto the table isn't wide enough on either side, so unless you are clamping in the perfect spot this is going to slide off your work table. It was cheap so I will use it for some things, but if I had seen it in a physical store I would have realized the clamp to attach to tables is poorly positioned and the jaws of the vice itself are very very shallow/short. ... show more

I really needed a vise to do some work on a rifle. The pads that cover the clamps and vise are total garbage and don't stay in place if you're putting good pressure on whatever it is you're working on. I had to use socks (an old belt would likely do) to be sure the vise didn't damage/scratch any part of the rifle. The entire thing is a bit stiff and is hard to tighten/loosen. All in all, this was a pretty cheap solution to my problem and I feel one should expect all of the above for this price. As the title says, it got the job done. If you're in a pinch and don't have a work bench that you can put a real vise on, this isn't a bad alternative. 👍 ... show more

For the price, you can't beat this one but it could be better. It is on the smaller side but that's not a fault, just pay attention when ordering. The one thing I really dislike is the included vice grips do not attach securely at all and easily fall off. They were also full of grease right out of the box and had to be cleaned off. The rear jaw slides on a dovetail, like a machine tool guideway, assuring that the gripping surfaces are always in alignment. On first inspection it appears well made. The three main elements are cast iron. The jaws needed a little deburring, which took all of two minutes. Practical throat opening is about 1-1/2 inches. The jaws will open farther, but the slide engagement is so much reduced that the rear jaw doesn't stay aligned very well. I have a small hobby machine shop which now does mostly gunsmithing work. I forsee this little vise getting a lot of use holding parts for filing and stoning right at the assembly bench. May buy a second one for the model airplane shop. Just wish Amazon had packaged it better. The shipping bag (BAG????) arrived torn wide open, and the accessories (soft jaws and pads for the table clamp) were lost. I can make my own, but wish I didn't have to. ... show more
