I really needed a vise to do some work on a rifle. The pads that cover the clamps and vise are total garbage and don't stay in place if you're putting good pressure on whatever it is you're working on. I had to use socks (an old belt would likely do) to be sure the vise didn't damage/scratch any part of the rifle. The entire thing is a bit stiff and is hard to tighten/loosen. All in all, this was a pretty cheap solution to my problem and I feel one should expect all of the above for this price. As the title says, it got the job done. If you're in a pinch and don't have a work bench that you can put a real vise on, this isn't a bad alternative. 👍 ... show more

Fantastic little vice for small DIY projects. Smaller than you think. Check the measurements before buying, but if you do buy it, you will like it. Con: wish the rubber feet weren’t removable. They fall off if you remove the vice from the desk and have to place them back on. Minor inconvenience.

Nice little vice, just didn’t fit deep enough for the type of table I need to put it on. Would recommend for anyone that doesn’t have a thicker work bench.

    • A very good design, much better than I expected at the price

The rear jaw slides on a dovetail, like a machine tool guideway, assuring that the gripping surfaces are always in alignment. On first inspection it appears well made. The three main elements are cast iron. The jaws needed a little deburring, which took all of two minutes. Practical throat opening is about 1-1/2 inches. The jaws will open farther, but the slide engagement is so much reduced that the rear jaw doesn't stay aligned very well. I have a small hobby machine shop which now does mostly gunsmithing work. I forsee this little vise getting a lot of use holding parts for filing and stoning right at the assembly bench. May buy a second one for the model airplane shop. Just wish Amazon had packaged it better. The shipping bag (BAG????) arrived torn wide open, and the accessories (soft jaws and pads for the table clamp) were lost. I can make my own, but wish I didn't have to. ... show more

Smaller than I expected - but really it’s all I need, and for what it is it’s fantastic. I just got a new workbench for my garage, and it’s so nice I didn’t want to drill holes in it to mount my massive 1970s solid iron vice - so I picked this up. It’s a lot smaller than I expected, but for how often I need a vice and for what I typically need a vice for, this works perfectly. The clamp to mount to the table is solid - screw it down TIGHT and the vice will not move at all (unless you REALLY give it the beans, trying to budge it - but you’ve got to mean it. Normal use and it’s solidly in place.) The rubber/plastic grip covers work well to prevent marring of surfaces - no need to use the towel-trick to protect whatever you’re clamping in place while you’re working on it. ... show more
