The media could not be loaded. OK, so this does work, and once you get it going, it's pretty cool. However, there are quite a few things I'm not impressed with, especially for this price level. First: This says it's in a "Luxury, sohisticated gift box." If you call a cardboard box with some bubble wrap "sophisticated," well... I do NOT. Second: The instructions are pretty much a joke. Maybe they are better in Chinese. Although I do like the explanation of what a Stirling Engine is and how it works. Third: Although the illustrations show the attached wires and USB port being tucked under the flywheel mount (definitely needed to provide at least some protection from damaging the soldered connections); mine wasn't like that. I loosened the screws holding the mount and tucked it under myself. Fourth: Once you finally get this going, it will vibrate a LOT and will "walk" across even a no-slip surface. The rubber dots on the bottom don't prevent this. With an open flame and very flammable alcohol fuel, this isn't a good idea. That said, if you decide to get this anyhow, here are a few tips. First: don't have more than an eighth inch of wick protruding, and have the alcohol container in place before you light. The cover only rests on top, and you have to bring the flame into contact with the glass to get it in place. It leaves a bit of residue anyhow, but you can wipe it off when cool. Second: Make darn sure you have this on something like a potholder or else stick it down securely. Do NOT leave this unsupervised. Third: It's fun watching the little included light bar work when you insert the USB plug. You will notice a great drop in the engine's output, which is a good teaching moment about energy requirements. All in all, it's fun and could be educational, but I don't think it's a great value for the money.
