The dual lids let me keep items separate while still using one compact steel box, the locks are keyed alike, and the foam interior plus security cable add peace of mind. Sturdy, portable, and well thought out for the size.

My initial impression is that this thing is really heavy. It's built like a small tank. I bought this to meet the requirements where I need to have both a firearm and ammunition stored separately, and this will work perfectly. I liked the fact that they keyed both sides the same, eliminating fumbling back and forth to figure out which key is which. The Ace locks make it very easy to use. My only negative comment, which is not really a negative, is that this would really not be the best solution for checking a firearm on a plane. It's really just too heavy to make it practical. At 5.5 pounds empty, it would eat up quite a bit of the allowable weight in a checked suitcase. I was thinking more like traveling through a state that required that any weapon and ammunition be securely stored separately, such as Maryland.

Lovely case. Keeps us compliant in all states under federal law for traveling. I trust Hornady and their partners for manufacturing; locks are fit and tight. Foam is great to protect your investment. The only zonk is the handle is plastic and may break over time. But, screws are in metal and can be swapped out. Good quality for the price.

Pros : Good for price. Very durable/ safe. Good cable. Good handle. Slim but I’m still able to fit everything i need. Cons: Unfortunately it’s a hassle to unlock it with the key. It’s not easy to get the key in properly, takes a minute to get it in right.

Well built and easy to secure in my vehicle. Good and solid for its intended use. I use strictly in my vehicle for short term security while day hiking

I read the reviews about stuck keys, thought I could avoid the issue by being smart/careful, was wrong. Now I have two loaded magazines stuck inside this thing. Not sure how I’ll get them out. Major annoyance aside, this is possibly a life-threatening design flaw. You can’t have a gun lockbox that doesn’t unlock quickly, easily, and without fail EVERY SINGLE TIME. Some may say “you put the key in wrong.” Possibly. And under pressure, in non-ideal lighting, without time to grab your glasses or rub your bleary eyes, you probably will too. I locked/unlocked this thing multiple times without issues on a family vacation roadtrip for which I bought it (thank you Oregon and your stupid gun laws) until the one time I tried to unlocked it and had an issue. Go back to the drawing board on these locks, Hornady. And until they do, BUYERS STAY AWAY!!!
