He had to mount it where there were two 2x4 together - the frame above the window where the 2x 4 were already doubled. We put it in our unfinished garage with exposed studs. I would say this is a quick way to get a cheap product that works. No tools included and the racks don't easily slip together. Thankfully I had shop classes and am a handy GenXr. Protective tape sticks to board and ripped off. It holds the boards but Iv'e seen better quality at a better price after 40yrs of surfing ... show more

The bars Holding the arms are too wide to secure onto wall studs. Also, the padding on the arms is subpar at best. The padding is thin and starting to come off.
