  • Avoid leaks, Tape All Threads
Excellent kit with all necessary parts for my Gott cooler. Leaked at first but this was solved by using the supplied Teflon tape on inside as well as outside threads. I used the supplied silicone washers on both inside and outside against the cooler surface.

  • Edit 8/7/19 initial shipment has issues but amazing customer service!
Edit: read the initial review below, but the seller promptly sent a replacement unit (directly from China) with silicone o-rings, and a free spray nozzle (nice gesture) and a hand written note. I had the replacement within a week of leaving the initial review. Great customer service. Thank you! Nice value on this piece BUT, upon arrival, the male threads on the bulkhead and barbed nipple appeared to be cut really deep (I am an plumber/pipe fitter welder by trade and I know my way around threaded pipe and fittings). Anyway, I thought I’d give it a shot and tape the threads (correctly) and both nipples bottomed out into the valve body with almost no resistance on the threads. So I figured they’d leak. And they did. Only now I have the bulkhead installed as a filter inlet for a stock tank pool filter assembly I have rigged up. Like I said, Good value for the money, but could I just get a couple of good nipples?! ... show more

  • Follow the instructions all will be ok
Prior to this purchase I was at first not sure due to some of the reviews. Then after looking at some of the pictures and re-reading the reviews in question that had pictures, all I have to say is those folks cannot follow simple instructions. YES you have to use the Teflon tape and I recommend wrapping at least 4/5 times. In addition the silicone washer goes on the INSIDE, not the outside. Use two adjustable wrenches when building too, don’t worry about over tightening, yet do not put HeMan strength into it. I did not put Teflon tape on the inside, since that’s why there is the silicone washer, also for sanitary reasons to clean. Lastly I am very satisfied with this purchase, for it saved me a ton of cash not having to purchase a pre made wort chiller and separator that goes for up to 250 dollars. Also first time filling with water it DID NOT LEAK. ... show more

  • Leaks
There is no shoulder on the close nipple, the silicone washer can't seal against the threads. It needs a fixed diameter shoulder on the OD of the pipe nipple. I've got a lathe so I'll just fix it. But I won't buy another one, this is a faulty design. I wound up welding the washer to seal it to the nipple, then I faced the other side of the washer in a lathe to smooth the surface after some of the weld puddles made some oxidation on the seal surface. I attached the fitting to an 8 gallon HLT and there was not a drop of leakage. ... show more
