  • Must have accessory for a steam deck
If you play your steam deck with a dock, connected to your tv, this is a MUST BUY controller. It has all the same buttons as a steam deck and I was blown away that this controller can wake up your steam deck or put it to sleep by holding down the steam button! This wasn’t expected and helps make the steam deck more like a viable alternative to other consoles. The steam horipad controller also provides gyro controls and have touch sensitive sticks(for the few games that use this feature). It can be used on a regular pc if you like but I wouldn’t buy it for that, this is best for Steam Deck because it’s designed for it. The only cons I can think of are there is no rumble and the controller feels very light and feels like a cheaper plastic than many others. Don’t worry though, the build quality seems very good and I like the feel of the controller in my hand, it’s very ergonomic. The sticks and buttons seem really good too, although the buttons are a little bigger than I’m used to. Don’t listen to reviewers on YouTube, you NEED this for your steam deck. The lack of rumble is not a big deal and this controller works so well with steam deck that you won’t want anything else! ... show more

  • For the price it's Mid.
I have multiple computers and consoles at home so I'm always buying, wearing down, and tossing away controllers. I pre-ordered two of these way back when they announced since it was touted as the new "Steam Controller." It is not a steam controller. No touch devices, but plenty of good functionality, and very light weight. It has tons of additional buttons and toggles. The sticks are an extremely comfortable rubber, and the D-Pad is solid. It gets comparable battery life to most other wireless controllers (20+ hours between charges). However the quality of the rest of the device does not match. The face buttons have a soft press and slightly sticky feeling. In less than 3 months of use you can't read the ABXY lettering. As others have mentioned, it randomly seems to experience latency spikes, where input gets sent in a burst as if you were holding down a button or something. For the top shelf price, it is a mid experience. I would honestly recommend an 8bitdo instead, even though their marketing team has a screw loose and they have a dozen of what looks like the exact same controller model. ... show more

  • Low quality for high price
First off the controller feels extremely light and plastic like. I get the appeal at first of having a light weight controller but there's a fine line between heavy and clunky, and something so light it feels cheap. This controller leans heavily on the latter. $60+ for a controller that feels this way and doesn't even include a rumble pack is way over priced. Also the triggers are terrible. I like the idea of switching between analog and digital but when the triggers are so short that a tiny bit of pressure brings it to the end, every setting is basically digital when you can only push down so little. I'd rather spend this money on a proper controller that doesn't feel cheap. ... show more

  • Solid controller from HORI don't let the bad reviews sway you.
As a PC gamer for well over 20 years I surprisingly own a lot of controllers. This is actually a pretty fair priced "Steam" branded controller by HORI. Build quality: Solid, controllers are tactile, no mushy feeling, analog sticks are smooth, no creaking, size feels similar to a Nintendo pro controller and weight feels similar to a slightly lighter Xbox controller. No rumble is probably the reason why it lacks heft. Usability: Designed to work well with the steam's controller ecosystem for customizability and key binding and hotkeying. It comes with a 10ft long USB-C cable and even a Bluetooth dongle so wired or wireless options work great! Sure you can buy an Xbox or Sony controller but the functionality of this controller makes me appreciate it even more as an owner of both an Xbox Elite Series 2 and a Sony Dualsense Edge. Overall great bang for the buck controller $60 is fair in comparison to the competition. ... show more

  • Decent controller for docked Steam Deck
Decent controller that typically works pretty well with the Steam Deck and fairly seamlessly on PC. It's lightweight and comfortable to hold. My main complaint - and it's a minor issue - is that if it turns off from idling, it stops controlling the game even if you turn it back on. It will control the Steam Deck, but in the game itself nothing will respond. I will say though, it doesn't offer much beyond the standard console controllers that are available, so if you have one of those you probably wouldn't need this. ... show more

  • Closest thing we have to a Steam Controller 2
Excellent controls, back buttons + four extra face buttons over a ps5/xbox gamepad. Biggest feature is the built-in gyro, which can be touch-activated by thumbstick sensors. Fantastic Steam compatibility. Build quality is good, but could feel better. Weight is light and grip texture is boring. Giving 5 stars because it is the only controller in its class, with the joystick touch-enabled gyro, which is now a must-have for any FPS gaming IMO. ... show more
