Tung Oil is known in Chinese as 桐油, derived from the seeds of 桐 (TONG) tree. This oil seems to protect the cutting boards and wooden knife handles well following Youtube instructions. It feels like a stronger protection than mineral oil. However, when the oil is dried on the blade, it left a layer of coating with the consistency of hard wax or clear paint which took some effort to clean off. I've used this on a gun stock and it did a wonderful job, and looks beautiful. I used it on a trestle table that was to go on a screen porch, it drank up the oil and I had to order more. It's good stuff, I like that it's a pure tung oil. The more you use the glossier the surface will be. It provides good water resistance, but it won't be water proof like polyurethan would be. ... show more

Its good to have sustainable products reasonably priced in the US from the US. I still buy from China am not racist, but overseas purchases face potential of being inaccessible due to catastrophe etc.... and we need to be able to care for ourselves as well.

It’s a heavy oil. It’s easy to apply, however, takes 12 hours between coats. It takes a long time to dry completely. The product leaves a nice finish on Teakwood.

I love this to refinish pistol grips. on several pieces I thought my only option is a clear coat but this is even better. layering several coats actually gives you a really glossy finish. Wish I would have found this product earlier.

I got to refinish a old set of kitchen knives. This was much better than the mineral oil I had used before. Haven’t tried on much other furniture, maybe a few old wooden Knick knacks and kitch items.
