  • Replaced the old one with the exact same thing- because it's that good
The one I replaced was the same model, but it was 12 years old and one of the prongs in the battery compartment broke off (of all things to fail!) I was glad to see the the model is still in production. Took it out of the package, put in the batteries, and slipped it back onto the back-plate on the wall. Fit perfectly and works works perfectly. Very happy. ... show more

  • Easy to Use
I started looking online for thermostats after being disappointed in the collection available in local stores. I ended up selecting this product because: 1) It can be run off the common power wire (which I recently installed myself specifically for this reason) so I never need to worry about replacing batteries ever. It also backs up the programmed schedule in memory, so on a power-cut you will only need to enter the day/time again. The thermostat also goes into OFF mode (no heating or cooling) after a power-cut which might be a problem for some people living in freeze prone areas. 2) The interface is more intuitive and easier to use than most others. Only thing you need to know is that pressing a button does what the text written above it says, if you have used an ATM you should already know that. The arrow keys and the hold button similarly should also make sense to most people. This makes it better than other similar looking cheaper non-FocusPro Honeywell models. 3) The backlight is just the right amount of brightness (see customer product photo for example) 4) The three modes it runs in match my needs perfectly: a)run schedule, b)temporary override till the next schedule change, c)hold setting overriding schedule change. 5) The clicking sound of the relays inside the thermostat is normal in a thermostat and does not bother me. The relays in my furnace are much louder anyway so this is a non issue. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the keycaps on the button tend to stick when pressing them. I am hoping that goes away with use but I notice it every time I use the thermostat and it feels as if the keys are old and worn out. ... show more

  • Great replacement
Had to replace the old one ,and this did the job.

  • A good and accurate Thermostat
We had the older version of this unit in our old home. The set up was exactly the same. We love how accurate it maintains temps in the home. I prefer the auto control function, setting the heat at 70 degrees in the winter and the AC at 72 in the summer. With the auto function, if the temp goes too high or low by more than 3 degrees, the unit switches to the opposing function. Perfect for areas where the temps can fluctuate through out a week. This winter for example, we had 3 days in the teens, then a weekend whee it got up to above 60. That weekend the unit switched from heat at 70 degrees to AC when the house temp got above 73. It is relatively inexpensive and does a fabulous job maintaining a constant temp. The one feature I am yet to understand how it works is the "learning mode". The unit supposedly tracks how long it take the heat or AC to get to the desired temp and so cut down on start time and how long the units run. ... show more

  • Works, but consider your daily programming needs.
I like it fairly well - had it over 1 yr. So far, worked well - as far as hitting & keeping target temps. A problem for some may be it only allows using same temp / time settings for ALL week days, then the same thing for Sat / Sun. If you need different settings say, during middle of week, this may not be the one for you. And you do need to consider where electronic thermostats are placed (as instructions mention). Don't ignore those guidelines, thinking they won't affect the performance. I don't know how long this (or any electronic) thermostat will last. Being electronic, my guess - on average, no where near as long as old, inexpensive mechanical thermostats (which were usually fairly accurate & could be adjusted - to recalibrate). Before this, I had another more expensive electronic thermostat ( a top mfg) - lasted only 5 - 7 yrs. ... show more
