    • Very responsive and well-functioning thermostat
I am reviewing the Honeywell Home X75 Smart Thermostat with Advanced Features. The first thing I will say is that I did not install this myself. I called out an electrician, coincidentally who was already going to be at my place to do some other work, to install the thermostat because I wanted to make sure that I had the C-wire that was available on the thermostat side as well as the air handler side. I had the electrician replace the thermostat that I originally had, which was one of those very ancient circular-style thermostats with no features of any kind except picking a temperature. I had him install this Honeywell thermostat. Since I wasn't really sure how to install it myself, I wanted to make sure that it was wired up properly. I asked the electrician if he encountered any unusual issues while installing the thermostat, and he said that it was completely straightforward and that there were no installation issues with installing this Honeywell Home X75 Smart Thermostat. We then fired it up to make sure it worked, and it absolutely did! There are a ton of features which are mainly powered by the advanced sensors that the thermostat has. You can look at things like humidity, indoor temperature, and so forth. Setting up the actual thermostat did take me a little bit of time because I have never set one up before; however, the process was not daunting at all. I just made sure I read my instructions and took my time with it, and I did not rush things. Overall, the setup portion in terms of the software and setting up a schedule was very easy. I should note that I don't have air conditioning. You may be wondering why I got this smart thermostat in the first place without having air conditioning. While air conditioning is going to be coming later, the real reason that I was very much looking forward to this thermostat is so that I could run the furnace in fan-only mode. By running it in fan-only mode, I would be able to better improve circulation around the house and have it go through the filtration system. I don't normally need heat all the time, but when I do, it's nice to know that the thermostat can adjust for my schedule and that I can even control it remotely so that when I come home from work, it's already going to be at a comfortable temperature. So far, I have been enjoying the thermostat, and I have not encountered any software glitches or issues with it. The sensors are accurate, and it does track the temperature and so forth very well. In terms of value for money, I think that this is pretty decent value for the money. There are other thermostats out there that are quite a bit more expensive that only give you a few more features, but then there are also many more inexpensive thermostats that have a significantly reduced feature set and may not be as reliable and durable as this Honeywell model. Overall, I'm very pleased with the thermostat. It's very responsive to inputs, and there are no issues that I have noticed thus far with setting schedules and so forth. Very pleased! ... show more

    • Solid Thermostat, Get The Additional Sensor and Check the X85 Might Be Same Price

Right off the bat, the Honeywell Home X75 is not as sexy as the Nest in terms of how it looks, it's more utilitarian in its design. Having said that I found it to be more responsive that the nest, I find that it registers adjustments and input faster. I like that you can customize the display colors, a small feature but it looks a lot better when the colors are complimentary with the wall paint. Installation was very easy, everything is clearly labeled and marked and I was able to get it installed quickly. It is Matter compliant so getting it set up on our WIFI was a snap, I wish more things used Matter, it's by far the quickest set up. The thermostat uses the First Alert app that other Honeywell devices use, it's a solid app and I don't have any issues with it. The X75 also has room sensing so it can auto switch to away, I don't like using that, but it's there. It requires a C wire, but there's a voucher for an adapter if you don't have one. So check before you buy, because it takes a while to get the adapter if you need it. All in all this is a solid thermostat, the only issue is that the X85 at the time of this review was discounted to be the same price. The X85 adds Advanced Air Quality Controls, video doorbell compatibility, and it has a larger monitor. If you buy either of these, the game changer is the additional room sensor, they aren't very expensive and they make a big difference, especially with homes that have fairly significant temperature differences between rooms or levels. ... show more

    • The Thermostat That Outsmarted My Blanket
I got this after realizing my old thermostat had two settings. Arctic tundra or tropical vacation. There was no in between, and I was constantly adjusting it like I was playing a game I never won. The first night with this one felt different right away. I set it up, picked a display style that actually looked nice on the wall, and left it alone. Somehow, the house stayed comfortable without me getting up every hour. It quietly adjusted itself like it understood the assignment. The occupancy sensing is what surprised me most. When I am home, it keeps things comfortable. When I leave, it backs off without me having to think about it. I checked the app a few times just to make sure it was real, and sure enough, it was doing its thing in the background. The humidity monitoring is another bonus. The air feels less heavy and more balanced, which I did not expect to notice as much as I did. It is one of those features you do not think about until it is working properly. The touchscreen is clear and easy to read, and the size makes it feel like a real upgrade. It also connects without much hassle and works smoothly for remote control, which is helpful when I do not feel like getting up or I am not home. Overall, this turned something I used to constantly mess with into something I do not have to think about anymore.
