    • Terrible Alexa support. Does not detect the thermostat, being sent back.
There was not a thourough setup when installing this. there was not way of setting it to heat pump. I had to go into advanced settings to set it to heat pump. app works great. Alexa will not detect the thermastat. Honeywell would not help and told me to contact alexa support. There is not alexa support. so it is going back. Maybe Honeywell should help a bit more so that they do not get returns. This was advertised to have full alexa support. but alexa will not detect the thermastat, says not deviced found. ... show more

So far so good. The temperature reading is within +/- 1 degree of my standalone room thermometer, which is why I bought it. Implementing the app, though, is problematic and it’s not clear why.

    • Easy to use, great upgrade
I’ve had this thermostat for over a month. I got it to work with my Alexa. If you have an older home check your wiring or if your current thermostat is battery powered. I needed to order the C wire. It would have been easy to install if I didn’t need the extra step of ordering the C wire. The setup was pretty standard besides ordering the wire. It connected to my Alexa easily. I programmed it and made sure it worked under various weather conditions. I like the ease of it and the flexibility of using it with my Alexa. The quality is solid and the display is large enough for my mature eyesight. During the winter we get a lot of rain so I like to keep an eye on the humidity to prevent mold developing in my house. Now that summer weather has arrived I am using the humidity function to see when I need to add more humidity into the air. The price is great for a smart home thermostat, the quality is high and the ease of use makes my life easier so I’m giving this a 5 star review to let you know it’s worth upgrading to this device. ... show more

I installed the Honeywell X7B a few weeks ago to replace an old, basic unit in my hallway. Because I live down in Charlotte where the summer humidity gets pretty aggressive, having the built-in indoor air quality and humidity monitoring right on the screen was a major selling point for me. The physical installation was surprisingly simple, though you need to be aware that this unit strictly requires a C-wire for power. My wall already had one ready to go, but if your house is older and doesn't, you have to send away for a free C-wire adapter voucher included in the box—meaning you won't be able to finish the installation on the same day. Once I had it wired up, connecting it to the network was completely painless. Unlike a lot of smart home gadgets that force you to isolate a 2.4 GHz network, this natively supports 5.0 GHz Wi-Fi, which made the app setup extremely fast and stable. The daily functionality has been absolutely rock solid. The 4.3-inch touchscreen is very responsive, and I really like that you can heavily customize the display; I set mine to a dark analog clock face so it doesn't just look like a bright glowing computer screen on the wall at night. Adjusting the temperature remotely through the First Alert app works instantly without any of the lag I've experienced with cheaper thermostats. It is worth noting, however, that while the device perfectly monitors your indoor humidity, actually using it to control that humidity requires you to have additional whole-home humidifier or dehumidifier equipment wired into your HVAC system. Still, as a Matter-certified smart thermostat for precision temperature scheduling and monitoring, it is an incredibly capable and easy-to-use device. ... show more

    • If you care about Matter/HomeKit, don’t bother.
I specifically use HomeKit and Matter so that I can control my own smart home hardware and keep devices from sending out information, so the fact that the manufacturer of this device forces you to create an account with mandatory full address/location service and connect the thermostat to their First Alert app before enabling Matter settings feels shady. Turning WiFi off on the device after connecting to Matter will disconnect it from your smart home hub. ... show more
