I've waited to submit any sort of review for this Honeywell A/C unit to see how it held up over time. Short answer: I'm impressed with its performance over time. The unit is used for stints of several days in the summer here - mostly in a bedroom. Our house does not have central heat nor A/C, so this unit and another (different unit) cover the main floor during hot days. I have been quite impressed with the ability of this unit to keep a fairly big room (~200+ soft) temperature controlled during 100F days. During the hottest part of the day, the unit stays running fairly consistently and keeps the temperature in the 73-75F range. When the temp outside is in the 90s, the unit can hold 72-73F and periodically cycles the compressor on and off (to hold set point). If there is a negative point for this unit - it is noise. It is not a quiet unit, especially when the compressor is active. The fan is not silent, but is rather unobtrusive, but when the compressor kicks in, there is a marked increase in noise and a prominent compressor noise/whine. I do not find it objectionable enough to worry about too much, but it is loud enough that some may find it hard to sleep around it (especially if it is cycling on and off, since the noise level would cycle as well). Another item to note, the hose for this unit is not very long compared to where you might need to reach to vent the hot air. Like all these portable units, this one needs to vent out a window (a sliding window - casement would not work). The unit stands about 2+feet high and the attachment of the vent hose on the back is approximately 1ft above the floor. The hose then has to reach up to any window to be used to vent the hot air (it also comes with an extendable 'blank' interface to put in the window opening to attach the hose for venting). I find the hose length to be sufficient, but just barely. The unit itself then has to be positioned very close to the window and wall because the hose is juuust long enough to span between the back of the unit and the window above it. All in all - I would recommend the unit for its cooling abilities and performance to date. ... show more

My apartment has a western exposure and gets lots of sun. After the 106 degree weather in Seattle, I needed an air conditioner. This Honeywell model really works well. I have windows that open from the top or side, so our maintenance person used the cardboard from the packaging to design the installation. (See picture.) It took several days to arrive and the cardboard container had a few dents but the conditioner was not affected. I didn't mind waiting a few days to get this item and I think that Amazon, in its haste to rush orders for customers, can complicate matters. Cools pretty well (air is 41 degrees coming out of vent), is pretty loud and with the vent so low on the machine it is awkward getting the vent hose to a window, might put a dedicated hole in the wall someday..

THIS HONEYWELL UNIT WITH REMOTE CONTROL DOES WHAT IT WAS DESIGNED TO DO. AND IT DOES THE JOB REALLY WELL. VERY EASY INSTALL & COOLS DOWN QUICKLY.WOULD RECOMMEND TO EVERYBODY. ALSO ITS DESIGN AND LOOKS ARE AWESOME. SHIPPING WAS SUPER QUICK, RECIEVED IT 2-DAYS AHEAD OF TIME. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GREAT HONEYWELL UNIT, THIS IS THE ONE. Our AC broke after one summer. It started making huge noise and then shut down like it’s exploded on the inside. We called the customer and they had us email the same info again after waiting for hours already on call. Sent in a new unit weeks after a bunch of emails with photos and videos and a huge waste of our time. And now the new unit we just got has been leaking water everywhere every time we use it :) I now also need to find a safe way to dump the unit while trying to fix the new one they sent. I would highly recommend you not to buy their AC. They have the worst customer service hours and attitude too :) ... show more

I've lived in my house for 18 years, and my windows have a crank and swing out so to use a window AC I have to take out the hole window. so i use the portable AC with a hose so i can crank open the window enough to vent the hose and i'm good to go. but in the past the portable AC was not as good as a window AC and I've owned several. this is the best one I've ever owned and it easily cools a 700sf area. Also the thermostat is fairly accurate and is quieter than most. P.S. I liked it so much i bot another just to have. ... show more

These units run cold immediately and work hard--my last one, I sold when I got AC added to my old house's HVAC bundle. This time, I bought it because although my garage has insulation in the walls and ceiling, and has a radiant barrier on the inside of the garage door, we've had a ton of extremely hot days and I got this so that I could put the vent out the slightly lifted garage door and block the rest of the opening with rolled up rug pads--because I have a classic car and if I don't find it comfortable in the garage, neither does my car (or anything else stored there that can be ruined by excessive heat or cold, which is a lot). ... show more
