Summer 2020. This Honeywell dehumidifier removes the moisture from the air like it says for my 800 square foot newly constructed, climate controlled and insulated garage with LED lighting inside and outside. Before the dehumidifier was installed my utility bill for the garage with the Mitsubishi Ductless heat pump cooling the garage at 75 degrees setting was $35. The next month in July with me working in garage for about two weeks and the new Honeywell dehumidifier on constantly, my bill for the electric went up only $5 to $40 per month. So I'm very pleased. If you dont have a way to run a hose from the dehumidifier directly to a drain then the water aple will fill up quickly and shut off the unit. So its best to have it hooked up so you dont need to worry about emptying the pale. The unit lowers the 79% to 85% humidity of my garage in Cincinnati Ohio with my AC st at 75 degrees to about 60% humidity if I have the unit set to 60% So it does the job and very efficiently. If I ran the AC colder I may not need to have the dehumidifier running all the time but I'm ot in the building that much. Used for storing cars and camper as well as my shop. Dont anticipate needing the dehumidifier in the winter when heat is on. ... show more

I received this dehumidifier on 4.01.21. After 25 days the humidity reading began jumping around, and at 27 days I got an error code that the humidity sensor had failed. Since the unit came from a third party, i contacted them, and found they needed proof of purchase, picture of serial #, etc. before they could start to help. I emailed that to them, and 3 days later still had not heard back. I then contacted Amazon, and within 3 minutes they had taken care of the return and refund.     • Humidity Display WAY off + Climbs too Fast

Nice looking unit but some issues I’m experiencing: 1) the humidity gauge is WAY off. I have two separate independent humidistats that show 40% humidity each. This unit displays 54%. How could it be off by 14%?? 2) the unit only has 5% increments. That sucks. Why? Because it will only run/turn on when you’ve reached 5% ABOVE your set. So I have to either wait until it’s too humid To turn on OR turn the setting on too low so it runs constantly. What gives? 3) say I have it set to 45. Okay. It runs until it hits 40 and turns on. But then within 3 minutes it shows the humidity climbing back up 10% and it kicks back on again. Why? My other gauges are holding steady for at least an hour before creeping up. It shouldn’t reduce to your % then when it shuts off climb back up within 3 mins. Makes no sense. Essentially no matter what I do this unit either always runs or never runs. I can’t find the sweet spot to make it work only in a nice small range ... show more

Honeywell TP30AWKN dehumidifier keeps our Minnesota basement (530 sq ft) around or below 50% all summer. This is rated as one of the quietest and most efficient dehumidifiers. i was surprised at how loud it is, so they did not accomplish a lot there. It pulls 276 watts on low, quite a bit less than our old dehumidifier. In 30 days it used 143 kwh @ $.09 = ~$13/month. This is about half of what we were paying with an older, more traditional 482 watt humidifier. The wifi is ok. Both the humidity and status can be monitored and controlled from a cellphone anywhere. - However there is no facility for an alarm nor notification, which seems to me to be a basic need for such software. And worse, it is not compatible with SmartThings, Wink or Z-wave devices, as far as i can tell, hence my lower rating. ... show more

Surprised by the high ratings for this product both on Amazon and Consumer Reports. The 30pt is only suitable for spaces smaller than a walk-in closet. Ran for 3 days on a class A motor home and could not get below 41% humidity level inside even when the outside level held at 38%. The target is at or below 30% to eliminate mold and/or mildew. Note the unit ran on constant operation with the drain hose. Go with a 70pt unit or bigger for effective dehumidifying of motor home sized spaces. ... show more

Not as automated as advertised. It’s nice being able to monitor it on Wi-Fi, which is why I chose this unit. But even when presetting to my desired humidity level, it doesn’t shut off by itself. It is super quiet, almost to the point where I’m wondering if the compressor is even turning on. I’ll wait for the next high humidity week and maybe come back to this review and amend it if needed ... show more

Bought this to replace a unit that died after 11 years. The unit itself is very quiet, even with the fan on high, but the reservoir is very small, and fills up after about 4-5 hours. It’s been running for 3 days in a basement and indicates the humidity is 50%. It is down from 57% when I started running it. Basement is only 700 square feet, so I though this would be sufficient, but appears I will have to empty often. ... show more

    • Works but smart functionality is bad

This unit definitely works, it is reducing humidity and filling up the tank with water. That said, I had high hopes for this unit, however I am encountering a few operational / technical issues that are annoying me. 1. The unit does not shut off when the desired/set humidity level is met. I had the set point to 55% and it was still running/dehumidifying when the sensor read out 52% 2. The timer / schedule / automation function does not trigger the unit. I spent time trying to set up a simple on off schedule and the unit was not turning on or off at the scheduled times. I tried it again in the smart automation section and set up notifications to send as well, device still not turning on or off but I am receiving notifications about it … At the end of the day, yes the unit works. It is reducing humidity, but it is not performing it’s advertised smart functionality. If you want a Honeywell unit specifically, I recommend against the smart unit. ... show more
