  • Thoughtful customer service!
I purchased this back in February and, even here in South Florida, it wasn’t warm yet. I just opened the box today and to my delight there were handwritten notes on the instruction sheets from Mr. Frye! He indicated in his notes that it’s OK to text or call him anytime! I purchased an already assembled box. It is sturdy, lightweight, and very well-made. The included instruction sheet gave tips where to hang, which I greatly appreciated. I am a new person to bee keeping. The smell is amazing and the inclusion of attractor lure is a plus. As I was attaching it to a 4 x 4 pole in my backyard there were three or four solitary bees flying around me and the box! I’m hoping they were Scout bees and they’ll let their hive know there’s a new place in town!! I’ll update the review after a bit to let you know how successful this is! ... show more

  • Customer for Life.
This will sound ridiculous, but if every consumer purchasing experience was similar to my experience with this product/owner, the world would be a happier place. First, I am new to beekeeping. I have worked hard to learn as much as possible this last year. I bought the Interceptor after searching for something online to attempt a wild swarm capture - as a novice. I read the reviews of the product on Amazon (having never previously seen it) and was mostly convinced to buy the trap because of the positive comments about the company staff/owner Mr. Frye. I figured so many positive reviews had to have merit. So when I got the product (faster than expected, by the way) I was excited to try it out. Having never had a trap, I didn't know what to expect as far as design but I could tell the product was well made, the instructions were clear, everything needed to hang/secure the trap was included, and like others have said, Mr. Frye included a personalized letter to me along with a pen and his "cell phone number" - which I thought was probably an office number... but turns out it really was his cell phone! Initially, when I hung the trap as a novice beekeeper trying to catch a wild swarm, I was overly anxious. I did everything I could to improve my odds (location, facing direction, etc). After 24 hours, there was bee activity. I was stoked. But sadly, after 2 days of "visiting" bees, things quieted down. So, I sent a message to the cell number asking if they would offer me advice. I was amazed that Mr. Frye immediately called me and we talked for nearly an hour. He is genuinely a very nice man with TONS of knowledge. I made some changes to my setup based on his recommendations and within a matter of days, I had a wild swarm (as you can see from my photo). The best part is, I have continued to communicate with Mr. Frye. Even during the swarm and following the relocation thereafter, he has remained a valuable resource for me. I certainly don't want to cause him to be flooded with "needy" customers like me because he will never get anything else done. But I can't tell you how refreshing it has been to have a high quality product that has been well worth the investment PLUS the creator/inventor/builder of the product be so graciously accessible to help. Like I said, if only all business owners were this good. I'm a customer for life. You will not regret making this purchase. PS - As you can see in the photo, I hung my trap with a ratchet strap. Like everyone else, my trap included a heavy duty nail and strong rubber strap... I just didn't use them because I was still learning where to place the trap and didn't know if I would need to move it. So the only thing that is "sloppy" about this photo/setup was my choice to use my own equipment. ... show more

  • Caught a swarm within days!!!
This is excellent and so very worth the money! We have a blueberry farm and bees are an essential part of our operation. This was very quick and easy to put up. We put it on a tree at the edge of one of the blueberry fields during bloom time and caught a swarm in less than one week. After four days we transferred the swarm to a beehive. It has been two months they are still doing well and seem happy!! The word "trap" is perhaps a little bit harsh. Try not to be put off by that. This is more of an alluring temporary resting place for them to land after they swarm. They are free to come and go while in the trap, and are therefore not really trapped. Excellent product. Looking forward to capturing another swarm next bloom season. ... show more

  • Amazing swarm trap kit! I can’t imagine better!
I’m so impressed by the quality, care, and thoroughness with which this product was prepared! First, sitting on my porch in the unopened box, there were scout bees flying all around. When I opened the box, I thought maybe a jar of Honey Bee Healthy had spilled, but the guy who packed the box, Bob, included a q tip with swarm commander on one side, lemongrass oil on the other, and included I small Manila envelope with a third swarm lure. How do I know it was Bob? Well, he included hand written notes explaining some stuff, and a pen with his name and website and phone number, and the pen smells like lemongrass! The actual swarm trap box follows all of Dr. Seeley’s parameters, there were 5 deep wooden frames with heavy waxed foundation included, the few that popped out popped right back in like we as beekeepers do every day.. it came with a mounting bracket that slid through a slot in the back, the screws to hold it tight, and a Jesus nail to hang it in a tree, and a rubber rope to hug it to the tree without swinging in the wind. The inside of the trap was smeared with a generous smear of beeswax that smelled great, and as I was setting the frames in the rest, the local scout bees were in and out of the thing. I decided to put it in a tree right away, and the scouts were all over it on the ground while I was driving the mounting nail. I can’t wait to get home this afternoon and see what happened with all these scout bees. The lid is snugly fit and easily removed, and the entrance for the bees has a ventilated plug for the move after the catch. There are also vents up top to prevent overheating, and a generous open space that bees like under the deep frames. I can’t imagine better! ... show more

  • Amazing product
As I was assembling the swarm trap the smell was amazing. I heard buzzing and noticed 5-7 bees buzzing around. If this is any indication of how well the swarm trap works I can’t wait to see the results. Well made solid construction. I ordered another one today. And it’s great to support small American businesses. ... show more

  • High quality box and good instructions, but no bees
We followed instructions closely but didn't have any luck catching any bees this summer. Will try again next year.
