This is a nice solid bookcase/shelf. Ordered it from Amazon and it came well before the estimated delivery date. I was alarmed that the directions did not have a quantitative parts list or contact coordinates for the maker in case there was a problem but it turned out not to be a problem because 1) there were excess number of parts and 2) it went together very easily. The only element that is not solid is the back -- it seems to be heavy cardboard finished to match the wood -- but it is solid enough and looks fine. ... show more

Love the finished product. Well made. Had some issues getting them to the house undamaged, but the company was good in that they just accepted my refusals and sent another set out. I found the first one to be a breeze putting together and really liked how it looked. Had more problems with the second: I had to take the side off twice, double check the bolts to make sure they were tight, and eventually found that one of the holes wasn't drilled properly. I had two corners which were a bit messed up from shipping but my biggest concern is that both side wall pieces weren't drilled completely. There were mounting holes which were drilled on one side and marked on the other side but not drilled at all. Also, about 10% of the holes for the height adjustment of the shelves were just barely drilled into the end pieces and needed to be further drilled to accommodate the adjustment hardware. Overall, this is a very nice bookshelf though. I have the book shelf fully loaded and it seems to be handling the weight well. ... show more

    • Customer service stinks
I bought these thinking they were 6' bookshelves. They were to replace ones that were destroyed in a flooded basement. I chose HON because they have a reputation for quality and the ones I was replacing were HON bookshelves. Boy, was I wrong. These are not much better than the ones you can buy at a Walmart. It was a while before I opened them, having to sort through the things the contractors thew into boxes. when I opened the cases, the shelves were 5' long. I contacted the company. They said it was beyond 30 days and they would have to check into whether I could exchange them. I never got a response back from them. I'm finally setting them up, even though they aren't what I wanted, and there are no instructions in the box to put it together. This has been a very great disappointment and the seller's response to me has been extremely poor. I would not recommend them to anybody and would further steer anyone else away from buying from them. ... show more

Amazingly, order arrived the very next day (Washington, DC area). Package weighed 109 lbs and is long (about 7.5ft), so I unpacked it in the hall and took the parts down to the basement for assembly. No scratches or damage. Assembly instructions not immediately visible (they are inside the folded panel that will unfold to be the back of the bookcase-a note taped to something else where it would tell you this would be nice), I downloaded a set of instructions off the Internet. Assembly took about 45 mins including unpacking. All holes accurately and completely drilled. Extra parts were included, but nothing tricky to the assembly. You need a Phillips head screwdriver and a hammer. Using a portable drill with a Phillips bit to screw in the anchor pins a great help for speed and saving your wrist a lot of work that I highly recommend. Good basic unit. Shelves fully loaded with heavy (lots of pictures) books show about 1/4" of sag in the middle once loaded for a few days. ... show more

The backing of the bookshelf could be a little thicker. There should also be 1 more shelf included IMO. The instructions could also be a little more clear. Overall a really good buy. It took some effort to find the customer service, but they were super helpful. Thank you!
