Love this deck box. We use it to hold items next to our hot tub and as someone else who reviewed the item here, used clear silicone to reinforce the waterproofing. We did not test it first, but just wanted to make 100% sure it wouldn't leak. So far it seems to be sturdy and we haven't used the lock feature but it looks like it would be fine for that if you need it. It was very easy to put together and my husband did it alone. I use this box to store outdoor bird seed on my patio so it needs to be water proof. It was a bit of a challenge to put together. No tools are needed unless You count a second person! I’m so happy with this purchase. This storage box is being used as a side table for our front yard patio. It has beautiful detail & the grey color was true to the picture shown. It holds 2 seat cushions for my Adirondak chairs as well as 2 pillows. This works well for those anticipated rain storms. I was even pleasantly surprised it matched the grey foot stools perfectly. I'm surprised at how much this thing actually holds! Assembly was super easy. We'll see how We'll it holds up to the wicked south facing sun on our deck, but if it only lasts a couple summers it will be worth it. I'm a deck flower and plant fanatic, my wife says hoarder, but that's another story. We have a 13 foot by 40 foot south facing deck here in Ohio. I bring all of my cacti, succulents and bonsai plants outdoors for the summer and I also 5 or 6 flats of annuals in containers on the deck. They attract hummingbirds and butterflies which I adore. All of these plants need equipment. Fertilizers, pruning tools, pots, potting media ect. My wife doesn't like to see my " plant junk" so I ordered this box to store it out of sight. Man does it fit the bill! In the box I have......a large sack of potting media, 2 smaller sacks of cacti potting media, several smaller pots not in use, a variety of different Fertilizers, my bonsai tool kit, bonsai lazy Susan, a small Pelican box of hummingbird feeder accessories, a sun hat and some hand tools. I should have bought a larger box because my 6 chair seat cushions and 6 back pillows barely fit. I can’t put anything else in the box. I would have preferred a little more sturdy box. The sides push out a little when all cushions are in the box. The lock keeps it together. Has not rained for me to see if box is water tight. I put cushions in a bag to test water resistance. This storage bin is very spacious, sturdy and attractive. Even though it is compact in size, it has a great deal of storage space. It also is airtight and doesn’t allow rain to seep through.
