Danziger. The name "Homak" was coined after a sign that Sigmund saw on a hat store. Originally a manufacturer of steel kitchen cabinets, Homak Expanded its product offerings in the 1960s to included a separate line of hardware products such as toolboxes, tool cabinets, and other accessories. Homak's hardware line remained strong and was accepted in many major retail businesses of its time. Following Sigmund's death in 1979, his wife, Gertrude, ran the company for 25 years. Under Gertrude's guidance, Homak extended its product line with automotive, hospital, and sporting goods. In January of 2005 Homak was acquired by JVA and moved its office to western Pennsylvania. Its facility now resides in the Wampum Underground Commerce Center. Today, Homak emphasizes tool storage and gun cabinet security. This Homak box is exactly like the old Kennedy Style cantilever boxes. I have loaded this box with tools and it is heavy...but I have no complaints about it. It is solid build quality and I don't worry about it being lugged around to multiple job sites every day. It just last. It is great being able to access everything with the top open. This has been my primary underground drift box for the past three years and I finally have to retire it this year. It has a lot of moving parts, so that’s why it failed so soon (it get’s thrown, bounced and jounced for about ten hours a day), but those moving parts are what makes a cantilever box so handy. ... show more

Solidly built, heavy duty tool box. It is bigger and weighs more than I expected, it's pretty heavy without any tools in it. But I will probably leave it in the work van for the most part so no big deal. I might find some handles and rivet them on the ends at some point, I think if i put all my mechanics tools in it it might be a two person move. The finish appears to be really durable, and it comes with some plastic dividers for the inside that are probably not worth using. Also came with some rubber or plastic corner guards that you can glue on the lower corners so it doesn't scuff the floor if you are using it in a house or whatever. ... show more

By far one of the best space managing tool boxes I've owed. Lack of space forced me to get the 18" version so there's no room for a 20" hacksaw yet this is still one of the best portable tool boxes I've experienced as a trades person of multiple decades. Get the 22" version and most manual wrenching scenarios are pretty much in the box. ;0) ... show more

Talk about living up to expectations! I've been searching for some time for a good quality, metal toolbox for my husband, but the ones that I've found either don't look like they'd last a year or cost so much that they just aren't feasible. I did a lot of research before purchasing this, and was still a little apprehensive when I finally decided to order it. I was so very pleased when it arrived and just the weight of the box alone reassured me of the quality of this product. The cantilever design is perfect for my husband, since he has quick access to everything without having to dig. With plastic boxes, he would try to set the tray in the top of the box to achieve this, but no matter how many tools were it the bottom, the box would invariably tip over. Not so with this one! Great quality, very sturdy, and NO tipping! I am very pleased with my purchase and expect that it will last for quite some time to come. Do note that the box is plenty heavy on its own, and even more so when filled. It's not to the point that you can't carry it, but probably not something you'd want to have to lug around multiple times a day. If you're just moving tools from one location to another, and then will be stationary for a while, however, this box is perfect. My only wish is that it was available in black, but a bit of spray paint will take care of that should we ever decide it's worth the effort--lol! ... show more
