  • It does what I need it to do so I'm cool
Style: M6 Kit
The media could not be loaded. It works well with the Samsung 22 Ultra, which is a larger phone (229g), but you'll likely have to take a bulkier case off of it, or the phone clamps will not get a good grip, and your phone will be lost somewhere down a waterfall. Mechanically, this gimbal it's really amazing. It would have been amazing if engineers could allow a clockwise turn to go portrait, not counter clockwise and so you wouldn't need to take the phone out of the phone brackets to turn the phone upright- although, there is a mode if you tilt the gimbal to the right in PTF mode, it will turn it to a portrait mode with somewhat limited movement that is a little awkward but is still very usable to me. So I'm pleased I technically done need the app, just as I've heard about this device. The tracker is cool. Also makes the case that one doesn't need the application. Although, if you move too far away, like 10 feet (30 meters), your tracking starts to fall off drastically. But where you need to be, like when blogging or suchup close, it does its job well. I'm happy. I will day I HATE the tripod. It's complete garbage and made rather cheaply. I literally took it out now to calibrate the device with the tripod and noticed my gimbal was lopsided. 1 of the poorly made legs is too loose and goes beyond its designed limit of bend, so I can't use them. I have many replacements but the one with it sucks. Also beware if charging while using it. 10 minutes into using the gimbal, I got an "OVERHEATING" message with a really loud nose that will not stop until you unllug and turn the power off completely. I unplugged the charger and turned back on and haven't seen it since. That could be a problem if one need to use it for a long time but keep constant power going to it. I don't plan to do this but you never know. Despite that since it met me expectations exactly, it's a 5 for now. UPDATE: I did ask Hohem to replace the tripod feet and they did really quick. Really solid company. ... show more

  • I love this Gimbal!
Style: M6 Kit
Over the last month, I spent some time with my brother and his kids. He had his little camera with a gimbal and was taking such great videos. He encouraged me to get one, so since my new phone had a great camera, I opted for this type.. It has been better than I could imagine. the videos are so clear and steady. Plus this features following, which makes it great for following people with gesture control. It was well worth what I paid for it, and it has been a great asset to my video production work. ... show more

  • Fantastic Gimble for the price!
Style: M6 Kit
I bought this for shooting work promo and educational videos. It works far better than I ever expected, my new videos have been way more dynamic after using this. The AI tracker is pretty nice for following one character. It takes a little getting used to at first but once you get the hang of it you wont shoot anything without it. Great for any type of panning shots and gives you a lot of flexibility in angles and creativity. ... show more

  • Well built with lots of pros but didn’t work for my needs!
Style: M6 Kit
This Gimbal is very well made. Lots of attention to detail. I love the AI tracking without using an app. However, tracking device does not stay ok well. I could see me loosing it very quickly. Everything another the device worked well. My biggest issue was the time and effort it takes to balance my iPhone 13 plus each time I used it. Very difficult and time consuming. I’ll be using this mostly on the go so having to spend that much time mounting and balancing the device just didn’t work for me. Ended up replacing with a more compact DJI model. If you don’t mind the time it take to balance and you value being able to use the controls without a supporting app, I would not hesitate to purchase this unit. ... show more

  • So far, the absolutey the best phone gimbal I've owned [Editing as I GO]
Style: M6 Kit
[I'm reading some reviews claiming an overheating problem, but I haven't had that yet] [Reading the reviews I'm seeing people saying it takes 3 hours to learn basics. Yes, if you have never used a hand held gimbal camera, of course there is going to be a learning curve. There is nothing natural in using the gimbal. Holding onto a stick and have the camera do what you want is not natural. Nor do we think pan, tilt, and zoom in our daily lives along with the modes. If you expect to get a gimbal and run out and start shooting you will be disappointed until you sit down and go through all the modes. There are a good number of YouTube videos, especially about this gimbal. I'm thinking of shooting one.] This is my initial review. I can't rate 'Battery Life' or 'Ease of Use' just yet. I will update this review since gimbals for phones can be one of your best tools on a budget for producing quality content. My 'Overall Rating' is based on my use of the gimbal so far as compared with others I've owned such as the Zhuyin Smooth 4, DJI (not the 6), and another one that I do not recall the manufacturer since it was so crappy. I also us an Insta360 Link webcam, a DJI Mavic Air 2 drone, DJI FPV Drone, and several of my PTZ production cameras along with my residential security cameras all have tracking capabilities. The ability of tracking is hands down one of the most important things about any camera that can pan and tilt. I feel comfortable giving it an overall high rating just on what I know so far but will update this review with my honest findings. As I said, for anyone who would buy one of these they are doing so because it adds so much value to the content they capture, regardless of what type of activity they are filming. The M6 is very well constructed, and the Active Tracking is the BEST I have ever seen. The 360-degree panning is not something I've seen any other phone gimbal do. Why is gimbal always underlined as misspelled? The controls are different than what I’m used to, but don’t seem to be deficient, simply different and that is why I cannot rate ‘Ease of Use’ yet. I have not taken it into a production environment, but we have one coming up in 3 weeks that will be the real test. For now, I ‘believe’ we can only use it for B-roll footage, but I have some ideas that may allow us to use it live. Since we are only recording events for the moment, messing up – if I can somehow hook its output into our Black Magic Design ATEM Mini Extreme ISO switch, or possibly using OBS, vMix or some other 3rd party virtual switching software – with it is not an issue since it can be fixed in post-production. If it passes that test, then we will use it while live streaming. Budget production baby. I needed a new gimbal because I had upgraded to an iPhone 14 Pro Max. It takes video as well as any DSLR with a few exceptions such as swapping lenses, or a much wider variety of filters. My Zhuyin Smooth 4 could not manage the weight and size difference between an iPhone X and the 14. I spent a lot of time researching before I purchased it. It wasn’t an issue of cost because these gimbals do not cost that much when compared to large commercial production companies’ equipment. All of my research was focused on functionality and how I would be using it. I also spent extra time researching it because HoHem was an unknown and it seemed like they just popped up out of the ground with what sounded like an awesome product at a much lower price point. So, I wasn’t inclined to have much respect for it and surprised myself when I finally purchased it over a Zhuyin or a DJI product. So far these are my observations. PROS: -Without a doubt, it has the best tracking capabilities. -What at first seemed like a deign cop-out with their detachable AI tracking sensor turned into being a brilliant decision. -The 360-degree panning functionality. -Sturdy and well built. -Extra consideration in adding multiple mounts for accessories. -AI Tracking that works with any 3rd-party app, including hand gestures. -I prefer its balancing design along with auto calibration. -Very smooth -The screen for information on mode and such is big and easy to read. CONS: -The HoHem Joy software needs work when compared to something like Filmic Pro. -That also leads to another deficiency that I think will be corrected. Filmic Pro does not support it yet. -If turned just right, it wonks out and goes into portrait mode. What is supposed to be a feature is an annoyance. -While you are supposed to be able to charge your phone while shooting, it's not a good design. I have an iPhone 14 Max Pro, and like all iPhones the charging port is on the bottom of the phone. The workaround is bad design. Instead of having your phone pressed into the rubber at the bottom, you plug the USB-C cable into the your phone, but then don't push your phone all the way down, and re-balance and re-calibrate. Phones charge so fast, tell everyone to take a break. ... show more
