Just got the bed today, I put it together in no time... very strong to my surprise and cordial to look at. This is a nice bed (twin) perfect for my small room - I laid on it very comfortably, and the head board is strong. thing you must know before you buy it" 1. Four (4) screws were missing for the Side Rail, you'll need to buy them prior. (06-21x30mm Bolts). I read that before I bought the bed, so I was aware of it (cost at ACE $20). 2. The wood is good and strong for the price - you can smell the paint, you might want to clean it before hand. 3. the best part, my 5" mattress fit perfectly, I wouldn't recommend any higher - 6 at most.. 4. I saw few scratches on the paint - thankfully there were underneath and can't be seen. 5. the Roll Slat were supposed to be screwed in, I didn't.. they fit perfectly with the need for screws. 6. the drawers are very nice, and functional, the only thing I didn't do is put the Back Panel - those also required screws. best of luck. ... show more

Easy to assemble, but may require to people. Very sturdy, doesn't shake often or creek. There were a few nicks here and there but none so obvious that stood out unless you were really searching for them.

I definitely wouldn’t say it’s a one person job. My girls 11 & 8 helped me put this together. It was easy to assemble and it took about 2 hrs for us to put together. I thought it was going to be a cheapy bed because of the price but I was wrong. It is heavy and sturdy. My daughter loves that one side of her bed is open on the bottoms so they can have an inside camping tent or a hide and seek spot. So that’s a bonus. ... show more

This is a beautiful bed, very nice in it's design. the extra storage underneath is nice. it was easy to assemble, really only need to put the side rails onto the head and foot board and lay the slats. took 1 person about 30 mins to assemble the whole bed. The drawer unit comes in one piece and you only need to attach the cubby unit pieces. I actually left those off because I wanted a night stand next to the bed, and I can put other stuff under the bed behind the drawers. ... show more

I LOVE THIS BED!! It is very heavy and sturdy-well made. The only problem I had is the cubby. The drawers are made to go under either side of the bed but with my furniture placement in my room the cubby hole part could not be attached to the drawers because the side I wanted the drawers on-I would not be able to use my nightstand. So I need to get someone to drill holes in the other end of the drawers to attach it. There are 2 roomy drawers with dividers in them so they can be used as 4 drawers. It looks GREAT but … the material is made of really cheap wood. I've put together many bunk beds and other furniture so I know the feeling of really sturdy or really flimsy material and this is pretty flimsy. Came in chipped in a few places , nothing that would affect the performance of the bed and we touched it up with a little grey paint. Assembly was okay I guess , instructions as per usual with these cheaper beds and furniture never really explains it properly nor did the pictures. DO NOT over tighten this bed . Like I said I've assembled quite a few pieces of furniture before and so I know how tight I should crank down. Basically do not crank down on the final turn , for sure you'll split the wood , I guarantee it . As soon as you hear that little creaking sound , stop , it's as tight as you want to go without splitting the wood. The reason why I gave this a relatively low score was because of the price. I don't mind paying more but for the material you get with this bed , it's not really worth it. Overall , I would look else where for a slightly sturdier bed frame but unless you are dead set on this design and colour. ... show more

These Captain Beds were exactly what I was looking for. They are sturdy and well made yet the price is right. As long as you are willing to put in the time to put them together it's a win, win. My son-in-law put them together for us. He's a carpenter and put them together in 2 hours per bed. He used an electric screw driver. I purchased the night stand by the same company. We haven't put it together yet but I'm hopeful all will match. We got white and are creating a nautical theme. ... show more
