My door fence was fixed just like that; super easy to install and more importantly fixed my faulty fence door. The installers did not do a great job with the fence door and left it like that. For a long time I opened the door to hear that terrible grinding sounds it made when opening the door. This kit fixed all of that and then some. I would buy it again if I needed it again.

All in all, these are easy to install and very versatile for different size gates. The only issue I had was the cable is plastic coated. I was adjusting one gate when the cable let loose. Turns out the cable clamp was only cutting through the plastic coating and basically stripped. I retightened the clamp on the stripped cable and all was good. I wished the screws were flathead and recessed since I had to route the hing end of the post to accept the large protruding screw heads. I’m not rating based on longevity since they’ve only been installed since early August 2024.

Cable clamps fracture or strip threads when tightened sufficiently to hold the vinyl coated cable. The vinyl coating strips off and cable slips if clamps are not very tight. Cable too flimsy for wood gates wider than 36”. Good concept, materials too flimsy. I will be re-doing this job with heavier duty hardware and larger diameter, stronger cable purchased from a local hardware store.

Seems to be good quality. I just installed it tonight so I can not speak of its longevity but it does the job. Only thing I wish it had was a jam nut for the turn buckle.

This is designed so poorly designed! (1) When tightening the turnbuckle, it started stripping the insulation off the wire, loosening the wire, from there the cable clamps hold the cable. (2) I had to strip the wire manually to start over, but the cable clamp is a nightmare to tighten. I had to somehow hold it with a wrench and use a small 5/16 inch wrench to turn the teeny-tiny nuts. That was extremely annoying and easily fixable. (3) My gate was dragging on the ground, so there was no way to place the corner brace on the outside of the frame like in everyone's pictures. I had to instead screw into the inside of the frame, risking a tear-out. This could be easily solved by making holes on the face of the corner brace. Ultimately, I was able to make it work, but I am concerned that (1) the screws on the inside of the frame that hold the bracket will tear out and (2) the exposed wire without the insulation will corrode over time. I would not buy this again, and I would spend a little more to buy something more robust from Ace hardware.
