These soft shackles are well made and appear to be pretty good. I haven't put them through the ringer yet, but the rope is nicely braded and the knot is solid. They made a loop in the rope to pull the knot through and it is a bit of a tight fit due to the sleeve they put on the shackle, but it is a solid connection. The first thing I checked when I got this was how difficult it was to open and close the shackle. I have a couple other ones, and they both don't quite seem to open far enough and it can be difficult to get the knot through the opening. On this shackle I have not had a problem. The opening isn't loose, but it's not tight. The knot goes right through with just the slightest bit of resistance. Of course this will all depend on how each shackle is tied, but I think it is a good indication of competency. In regards to that, pulling back the sheath all the strands seem to be in good condition, no pulls or tears. The knot is tight and set very well with the ends buried plenty deep in the rope. The price for this probably a reasonable value. There are cheaper, and there are way more expensive. This seems to occupy a good middle ground. ... show more

I have and use many soft shackles on a regular basis. These seem to have an unusually large ball end making it very difficult to actually use them, especially when the very hard synthetic material is almost unusable when they are cold. You have to open the rope to the absolute maximum in order to get it over the ball. With that being said, if you can manage to get it over the ball I see no chance that it will ever come back over unwantedly.
