I couldn't get mine working, but I'm pretty confident it's user error. There's no layman's instruction set, only a schematic. I, unfortunately, forgot my very limited knowledge on schematics prior to departing my teenage years. It came with everything claimed, and the components were decent. I give 5 stars, considering it's 8 bucks. P.s The depiction in the listing uses the led for testing the coil on the board. Use the 2 normal style leds on the board.     • Very complicated
We bought this as a project for my 10 y/o son. It was not successful . Instructions that arrived were in broken english and even then did little to help this product work. A more experienced tech or an ESL user would have more success with this project. Poor buying experience

I am an experienced electronics builder (55+ yrs). I bought two of these units, one for me and one for one of my students. One kit worked fine. The other was missing the non-polarized capacitor. I used one I had in inventory, but the unit did not work. The documentation that describes the product is in English. The documentation that gives you the techical information you need for assembly is in Chinese. You will need to use Google translate to figure it out, especially which LED goes where. I also don't like the orientation of the heatsinks. As they are now, you can't remove the screw holding the transistor. So to replace one of the transistors, in an attempt to troubleshoot the problem, you need to unsolder the heatsink too and remove both as a unit. Not the best design option. ... show more

First, great value! Fun little toy. Easy to assemble. However, instructions not clear for beginners. Spend extra time identifying the components and their positions on the PCB, especially polarity of the LEDs and electrolytic capacitor. If using a 24V power supply, you will need to add a fan to cool Q2 BD243 or it will likely fail. Even with cooling, I only run the tesla for short periods of time. Upgrading the heatsink of Q2 would be a good idea. I enjoyed lighting up an OA2 vacuum tube. These are filled with Neon and act like a plasma globe when touched. See photo. Most of the instructions are in another language and the English is also bad I tried to fix what the English said may be the problem as if they expect it to go wrong I read the reviews before I bought it and I honestly didn’t thing it would be so difficult
