I used these for attaching the composite decking on the floating pier that I just built. I started drilling pilot holes for the first few deck boards. Then I thought I'd try it without drilling pilot holes. They screwed in nicely without requiring pilot holes, so it will save me lots of time. I also like the square hole in the screw head as opposed to Phillips-head screws (I heard some bad things about hidden connectors with Phillips-head screws). These come with a square bit as well.
