  • Excellent Customer Service at HiCozy!
Size: Standard Color: Black Number of Items: 1
Update: Customer service from HiCozy reached out to me about my complaints. They were very helpful and responsive. HiCozy wanted to make sure I'm a happy customer, so they sent me a replacements It works perfectly! Overall, I'm very happy with the HiCozy ice maker. Previous Comment: When my HiCozy ice maker works, it produces wonderful nugget ice, which I absolutely enjoy. However, my experience with this machine has been far from satisfactory. Right out of the box, the machine started making a persistent and annoying squeaking noise. I initially hoped this would subside after a few uses, but it only got louder with each batch of ice. Additionally, I faced a concerning issue with a dark powdery residue accumulating inside the machine within a day or two of cleaning. Initially, I feared it was mold or mildew, but I later realized it seemed to be a result of the machine's internal wear and tear. The squeaking became so loud that my wife insisted on moving it away from our bedroom. Despite these issues, my love for nugget ice led me to tolerate the noise and regularly clean the machine more often. But six months in, the primary function of making ice started failing. The machine could only produce a few nuggets of ice before shutting off, restarting, and flashing a frustrating white light indicating a malfunction, with no clear resolution. Unfortunately, after just six months of use, I'm left with a non-returnable, noisy, and ineffective machine. My attempts to return it to Amazon were unsuccessful, and a replacement option was not available. This $400 purchase has been a significant disappointment and will certainly affect my future shopping decisions. As much as I loved the nugget ice, my next purchase will not be a HiCozy ice maker. ... show more

  • Hit and miss, but mostly miss.
Size: Standard Color: Black-Basic Number of Items: 1
Update: 3.5 months after purchasing this it is starting to tick me off and all stars it previously had were lost. Previously, I mentioned this thing needs a latch. Now, it needs a damn babysitter. If I activate this, the ice will be produced very quickly and efficiently, which is good. However, if I'm not there to turn it off when it reaches max capacity, the damn thing will push the tray OUT. This means that, if neither of us are there to turn it off, the ice will eventually melt on our counter and create a small lake. Not only that, but even MORE ice will be created, since the bin is no longer there to give it ANY indication it should stop, and the mess will be multiplied. Up until this point, I've just placed heavy cannisters in front of it to keep it closed, but this moring it pushed the bin out with enough force to knock the cannister down and break a bowl. Even after pushing the bin back in, it pushed it out AGAIN! I don't get it. Did NO ONE even consider the concept of a latch? Was this thought never floated about? Are we the only ones with an ice machine that punches the ice bin out when it gets full? Or was the idea of attaching such a SIMPLE mechanism SO difficult and SO expensive that they just couldn't bring themselves to do it? I'll never know. Now, I have to rig up some OTHER way of preventing this thing from spewing ice and water onto our counter and floor, since they couldn't be bothered. Zero stars. We purchased this during the Amazon Prime Day deals, back in July of 2023, and it was a great ice maker at first. It replaced another smaller countertop icemaker that didn't allow for a water intake feed and had a much larger capacity. As mentioned, it was beautiful when we first connected it up. There was a minor amount of machine noise from it, but we figured that was a natural side-effect of the machine doing its thing. Unfortunately, the "machine noise" escalated to the point where it was a constant scraping of metal nails across an old-fashioned school chalkboard...a LOOOOOOOOOOOOONG chalkboard. Over time, the screeching became so bad, we couldn't deliberately ignore and tune it out. After contacting the manufacturer, and describing the wailing of the banshees that our machine was emitting, the individual on the other end of the phone said it was a known issue but they had no idea what was causing it. While it was surprisingly refreshing and pleasant to be spoken to in such candor, as opposed to empty apologies and lip service, it was rather alarming that there was a known mechanical issue that the manufacturer was aware of but was at a loss as to how to correct it before shipping the units out the door. However, they sent us a replacement, we sent the other back and it has worked ALMOST perfectly since then. I say ALMOST because, while producing ice (at a nice rate, btw), the amount produced will become so much, and hit the existing ice so hard, that the ice bin will sometimes be pushed out. We have walked into the kitchen to find the ice bin half out of the icemaker and dangling over the counter, where a lot of the ice had melted. It created quite a puddle. For the most part, I have rectified this simply by listening for when the machine sounds like it's REALLY getting enthusiastic about making ice and just pressing the button to tell it to stop. That or I put something heavy in front of the bin to keep it in place. Another "characteristic" is that sometimes it will make the ice bits and other times it will make slush very similar to snow. Both types are fine with us, since that just means we have a icemaker AND a snow cone maker. We just boil a cup of water, a cup of sugar, and a kool-aid packet on the stove for a few minutes, let the mixture cool, and use it as flavored syrup on our snow cones. We don't need the Ice Cream Man here. The slush part was surprising, though, I must admit. When I watched the promo video they have on here, the one where an entire group of people are creepily feasting on plain ice like it's the most delicious pasta in the world, the "snow feature" was never shown. Nor was it shown or mentioned elsewhere. At a minimum, they seriously need to have some kind of latch to keep the bin in the machine that also allows people to remove it without too much difficulty. ... show more

  • We Love This Mini Sonic Ice Maker
Size: Standard Color: Black-Basic Number of Items: 1
As the title states We Love It. Our main ice maker in Freezer was giving us headaches (which I did fix later) and ended up purchasing the HoCozy Ice Machine. I installed it using a water line in our utility room and it started producing ice in little to no time. As others have reviewed the HiCoozy Ice maker, it was making a horrible sneaking screeching noise and it was pretty loud. Upon a good cleaning, wiping the water reservoir there was a lot of build up. So, I ended up purchasing a in-line water filter and this solved to problem in a few days. That being said the noise is not a flaw in the machine it’s your water supply. If your not using filtered water to fill water reservoir, I’d definitely suggest that you do or get a in-line water filter. The only draw back if any, is it doesn’t keep the ice cold enough to stay frozen but it’s not a freezer ice maker so it’s understandable. I simply just press the button to start making ice and the process starts all over. I hope this has been helpful. I’d recommend this lil gem for sure 👍🏼. ... show more
