  • Nothing Better in its Price Range.
Color: Silver Capacity: R6III-2025
Even though this MP3 player is considered mid-range in price, I consider it the very best I’ve ever listened to. I use Bowers and Wilkins PX8 S2 Wireless and noise cancelling over-the-ear headphones, which cost double what this MP3 player does and I get everything the HilBy produces. You can go read the definitive reviews of the Hilby for full descriptions; but what I’m saying is: this DAP is awesome. Sound adjustments are extensive. I run the player in class A amplification. Now, the amplifier is quite powerful and I can bring my Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 250-ohm headphones to ear-splitting volume (95 out of 100 setting). I also use Moondrop Space Travel Ultra wireless earbuds that provide great sound, and they do not disconnect anywhere in the house, or on the porch. I also use Beyerdynamic 41 iE wired earphones when I’m in bed. I’ve attached earpieces that fill the ear canal, so I get sound rivalling the Bowers and Wilkins. Now for what I listen to when streaming: blues, blues-rock, hard rock and rockabilly, all loud. Buy this HiBy R6 iii 2025 DAP, it gives perfect sound. Now for some nitpicking. Be careful with the Android operating system. When I went to the APP store to get the Amazon and You Tube music apps I got a boatload of viruses too. I had to factory reset the player twice. I don’t like this Android OS! I usually just stream the music, and I haven’t used the MicroSD(TF) card slot, because the case blocks it. I really don’t like the top mounted volume knob; I’d rather have it on the right side. Thanks for reading my review ... show more

  • Short of 5 stars - battery life

Sounds good and good value for the price. Pros: - easy to use as a stand alone player - easy to connect with a streaming device to play ripped music with BubbleUPnP via stereo system. - love PEQ upload for different headphones settings. (Focal headphones and FiiO IEM’s). - plays nice with Qobuz. - Good bang for your buck. - Volume control is easy to use. Cons: - Battery life is not great for A amp setting. - Added UAPP app to help manage downloads and ripped files and improved playback. Using 1 TB micro SD card. ... show more

  • Surprisingly good, easy to use and sounds incredible.
Color: Silver Capacity: R6III-2025
This is my second HiBy unit the first was the $700 R6 Pro in stainless steel from 6 or 7 years ago. For the difference in price of $300 less, this unit is just as good and I can not tell the difference in sound quality from my old more expensive one. I only use it with my Bowers and Wilkins over the ear headphones and the Bose Resolve + II Speaker and it works perfectly with either the cable or Bluetooth. I have a Jeep Gladiator and neither this unit, my old HiBy, my Pixel phone or my wife's phone will work correctly with the Jeep installed infotainment system, so I assume it is the crap Jeep system that is the problem. The HiBy music App is good for what I need, but it includes lots of functions and acronyms that I have no idea what they mean or how to use. I just want it to turn on and play music which it does perfectly. At 70 years old I am beyond all of that Jargon. I have no problems using it to play my loaded CD's. I have installed a 1TB memory card and have about 3,300 Cd's loaded onto it in lossless format and the sound is superb. I have also connected it to my 7/2/2 home theater system and the sound is incredibly good but that is not my primary use for it. A streaming music service works well over WiFi but I have only used it with the Amazon Music. The unit feels good to hold, it looks good and I really enjoy using it, I would certainly buy it again, but I hope this one lasts longer than the six or seven years that my older unit lasted. I use it about 1.5 to 2 hours per day with headphones and maybe five or six hours on a weekend with the Bose speaker outside on the back porch. I charge it up every Sunday evening and so far it has not run out of power with around 14 to 16 hours a week of usage. ... show more

  • Has stopped connection to PC with correct cable for data transfer. Firmwware was updated.
Color: Black Capacity: R6III-2025
A solid unit, both operating and constructed well. Unit will accept up to a 2TB SIM card per the instructions. Instructions are brief, but navigating the unit operation is fairly easy. Plays external headsets, either via cord or Bluetooth, very well. Recommend purchasing this item and recommend adding a SIM card to order. Updating today, March 3/17/2026. Downgrading this review to one star. Initially, the unit would file transfer without problems. Now, with the correct data transfer cable, the unit will not populate on the PC as it once did. The firmware was updated on the WiFi, and the connection stopped after that. ... show more

  • An excellent quality DAP at an affordable price point that can drive most headphones and all IEMs.
Color: Black Capacity: R6III-2025
A great DAP that is affordably priced. You get the option of a Hiby experience or an android experience I’ll combined into one DAP. It has plenty of power, especially out of the 4.4 to power even my most hard to drive headphones, which are my HD 600s and my venture Electronics Vanguard with ease. A very underrated and musical DAP. ... show more

  • A Diamond in the Rough
Color: Black Capacity: R6III-2025
When you first look at the HiBy R6 sitting next to Askel & Kerns or the Sony nw-a306, your first impression is that it must be cheap. Its cost is low although it advertises more in storage and DAC technology, and it seems like some fly-by-night brand name soon to be forgotten. But every now and then when you're a little low on cash and in need of something in the interim, you're willing to take a chance on fly-by-night brand names and this is such a case. I have used both the Astell and Sony models mentioned and believe it or not, the HiBy 6 has the potential to blow them both out of the water. The best feature of the HiBy 6 is its ability to download the Power Amp application which the Astel & Kern aNorma cannot do. The Power Amp app is an Android equalizer app with anywhere between 50 to a hundred plus presets that can be modified to your liking for any music file on your android. This means you can put all the thump, bump, crisp and highs and lows you want on any piece of music you choose to create just the sound that you like. The Astel on the other hand, is said to have a "more refined", "mature" sound matrix than the HiBy. While I like a seemingly wider stereo sound field of the Astel, I'm not sure that there's a "refined, mature" sound. But I DO know its sound is severely limited by the weakness of its built-in equalizer. You can raise its kick, highs or lows as much as you want but it pales next to the ability of the android Power Amp app. That's the major drawback of the Astel line. According to techies, even the Astel's 4k priced models can't produce the sound that Power Amp provides. As a stand-alone the HiBY, the HiBy may not have the "smooth wide stereo sound field" of the Astel, but once you hook up Power Amp forget about it. Your music will sound a hundred times fuller, richer and better. Some people don't like the HiBy because they say you can't stream Tidal from it. I don't know anything about that, I stream Spotify. But if your needs center around sound quality rather than particular platforms like Tidal, the HiBy is for you. With 399.00 for the player and 5 bucks for the Power Amp app you have a contraption that beats out the sound of an Astel 4k model. That's a win-win, a diamond in the rough. ... show more

Want to like it so much but there’s too many problems with the device. Nice build quality and solid battery life. It could power everything I have. I can’t stand the hiby music app. I download all my music on one computer, transfer to the same sd card, and scan together yet the hiby app can play half and can’t play half. When I use other app like power amp or musicolet, they both recognize and play all the music. ... show more

  • Complicated user-interface but overall it's a great unit.
Color: Silver Capacity: R6III-2025
Google AI suggested this model so I purchased it. My only complaint is the user interface. For the life of me, it's super complicated trying to figure out how to get it to play the tracks stored on my micro sd card. Instead it only shows me tracks that were already deleted from the sd card and it also just shows me album art of those deleted tracks. I'm sure I'll figure it out at some point but it shouldn't be this hard to figure out judging from my previous experience owning a Fiio X3 and a Sony. ... show more
