Excellent saw. Very easy to use. I don't suggest buying the guide for another 100 bucks. You can easily cut vert small stones with no risk of injury. I have cut lots of geodes and some lighting stones with this saw and it's awesome! The price is a bit high, but worth it, in my opinion.

I purchased the Hi-Tech 10" rock saw to make my little stone crosses. So far I've cut 50 of them from fieldstone found in the local area. Each cross requires 12 cuts for the cross, and additional cuts for the slabs from which crosses are cut. Happily I'm still on the first of the 2 blades that came with the saw. As others have noted, I find the drain not to be a well thought out design, and I wish there were a better way to shield the water for the cutting coolant. My temporary solution is to put a garbage bag over the back of the blade. I'll try to figure out something more effective, but for how this helps keep my work area drier than it was without it. I'll not detract a star for that, as I knew of that issue when I bought it. The cuts in the slabs, are very smooth. I'm quite happy with my purchase. ... show more
