I ordered this for my two toddlers to create art projects, and even though they aren't within the recommended age range (they are 2.5yo and 4.5yo) it still worked out great... even better than I anticipated. Needless to say, they are both obsessed! First, setup was a breeze. Just pop the batteries in and you're ready to spin! With that said, it does take C batteries, which we happened to have on hand, but I do think the description should note this considering it might not be the kind most people have. It doesn't state this anywhere on the box, either. Anyway, it works without issue and is super easy to use. It comes with a bunch of thick card stock cutouts in different shapes, and a seven smaller paint bottles. My kids had so much fun creating their works of art... and theres literally no mess involved. The plastic guard covering on the spinner prevents paint from splattering out when in use - even if your kids are heavy handed on the paint like mine were. It's easy to remove and clean, too. I also like how it comes with a little storage drawer underneath for the paper, any any extra paints you have left over. It's small, but it definitely helps to keep everything contained in the unit. I do wish it came with more paint, but it was enough for my kids to make about 5 paintings each, so I can't really complain. Once the paint ran out, I filled the bottles with watered down washable Crayola paint. This would make an awesome gift for pretty much any child, and it's added a new 'spin' to our craft time routine. Overall, it's a great quality product and a good value. This is a huge upgrade from the salad spinner I would use with my kiddos to create spin art. The tray holds two sizes of paper securely. The paper that comes with it is coated card stock, but when that runs out regular card stock is fine. Just cut to fit. I like the little storage drawer for the paint bottles. There's no place for paint to leak out where you set the paper so clean up is a breeze. There is a plastic cover and I almost threw it out thinking it was packaging. It's on the thin side and just kind of sits on top. It is still a messy craft so I recommend using outdoors or on a well covered space. It doesn't take very long to create a piece of spin art so its easy to use with a group of kids. Make sure they don't squeeze too much paint! It doesn't take much. This paint spinner is really fun to use. After finding the required batteries we were ready to try it out. There is a large variety of paper sizes/shapes and a good starter set of paints. My daughter is pretty heavy handed with the paints as she is of the opinion that all the white should be covered. After completing about 9 paintings we are starting to run low on paint but have plenty of the thick paper remaining. That’s fine because I want some different paint colors anyway. I feel limited by the primaries plus green and gold. The two glitter paints don’t work with the spinner and should be applied after the spinning is done, just FYI. I didn’t find this craft messy as many others have said. The only messy part was stopping after about 3-4 paintings to remove excess paint from the interior as it causes the machine to stop spinning or to spin slowly. This would make a fun gift for any elementary school kid. Though as an adult I also really like it and make my daughter alternate turns with me. It’s very entrancing to watch it slowly stop spinning. This toy paint spin-art set came exactly as described. The paints are thin enough to drip onto the surface. There is an assortment of paper shapes and sizes for your little artist. In a world where it seems everything is chargeable, I was surprised that this toy requires 4 AA batteries - not included. (Be aware, the box says AAA, but they are AA.) The spin function works well. My siblings and I had spin art sets like this when we were young, and when I seen these, I just had to order them for my kids. They were a huge hit! They did so many art designs, each and every one different from the last. It says that they take 4 AAA batteries, but that is WRONG. They take 4 AA batteries... Just know this and have a few sets of AA batteries on hand as they are not included. Other than that, this is a great set. It has 6 paints, a paint brush, different shapes of paper and 2 white oil pastels in the drawer. :) Great way to keep kids busy for hours! ... show more

Got this for our nephews - and to relive our childhood! This is a newer version of the old spin art we had when we were young. Love that it comes with so much paint and so many boards to "paint" -- and that it runs on AA batteries -- the ones we had "back in the day" had to use C batteries which were hard to find, and only came with 4 boards and then you were done and needed more 'paper' to play. Use the smooth sides of the boards and it creates the same great designs and allows them to be creative. Kept their attention for hours. And we wanted to play, too. The kids love playing with this thing. Once i showed them what it was, they went to town playing with the paints and the cards and making their own creations. It was really funny to watch them drop the paint and then laugh as it spun around, and they were really able to hone in on their creativity. They're big fans. I love that this comes with SO MANY cards, that this will keep them busy for awhile. You also get a good variety of paints as well. This was easy to clean, so that was a nice surprise. Overall this is great for creativity and if you need to keep the kiddos busy. My kids are 3 and 6, and they did a good job with this. I would suggest changing the cards because the paint can get messy on the edges. ... show more
