  • BETTER than the Numark DJ 2Go2...Here's WHY!
To be honest...the units are similar. (I own both.) My issue with the Numark is it doesnt allow you to scratch on the mini jog wheels. (Most DJs I know like to do at least a "Baby Scratch" to cue up and release to start the track in rhythm) It doesn't have a Vinyl Mode...so it works as a Pitch Bend while the song is playing. You would have to scratch while the track is STOPPED...then you would have to try to time hitting the PLAY button on time separately to mimic that rhythmic effect. That was the MAJOR complaint I had with it. So...I bought the Hercules Starlight, hoping for better. You CAN scratch on the Starlight while the song is playing!!! It also allows access to your FXs and Loops (with pre set beat lengths) Most of the other features are kinda similar. If I was FORCED to complain about the Hercules Starlight...the only small thing would be you have to load the tracks with the buttons or mouse pad on your laptop. If you are used to using the Serato short cuts this is not a issue at all. Compact footprint. Decent sound card. (so you can use headphones to cue up your next song) Great portable backup unit that doesn't take up much space in your bag...just in case something goes wrong with your full size controller while at a gig. Great for testing basic mixes and setting Cue Points for prep work. So compact and light you can bring it everywhere! Which makes it awesome for impromptu parties with a DJ instead of a stop & go playlist. Very happy with this purchase! ... show more

  • Great but check for device compatibility
A gift for my son, he loves, but this turntable only works with certain laptops/software. It doesn’t work with apple devices, and wasn’t compatible with his chrome book, only worked with my husband’s computer

  • Great for young beginners. Simple mixing and functions.
I bought this more as an experiment than anything. I wanted to see if I could perform even the most basic mixing transitions and effects before spending $250 or more on a performance worthy controller. I think of all of the pocket controllers, this is the best as far as which features it offers. You can't browse and load your files with it so you will be working with your computer in tandem, but even with the other pocket controller that does allow file browsing, you still use it with your computer close at hand so, no loss. What this controller does offer that the others lack in is the scratching ability. One button and you are in vinyl mode and able to scratch. The high/low pass filter is nice as a starter and you also have the ability to adjust the bass for each channel. Basic effects, samples, looping... It does the very basic functions and "tricks" DJs use. Just don't expect more than the very, VERY basics. This particular controller is really best suited to those with only the slight interest in mixing as a hobby or for kids as a way to see if they would be interested in DJ work. This works with Serato DJ Lite, which is entirely free and is a basic version of software heavily used by professional DJs. So if you are totally new to mixing and what DJs do, rest assured that at least the software is exactly what you might use as a pro DJ (Just minus a few features the pro version adds). I actually only had mine for 2 weeks before giving to my 10 year old grandson who loves EDM. He was THRILLED! My new controller is due any day so I guess you can tell that the experiment showed I both could do it and enjoyed doing it. ... show more

  • Best controller out there with this price!
This a great bundle for the price. I gave the headphones to my dad and he uses them all the time. The controller itself is very handy, the vynil scratch mode is very on point. Very light weight I’ve taken it on a bunch of road trips so it came in handy when friends wanted some fun I could dj on the spot for them. My only complaint is there’s no faders but I can deal with that because there’s volume nobs anyway and they added Bass Eq nobs which is very essential and other controllers of the same size don’t have the bass eq. Overall I’m rating it a 5 stars because for the price it’s the best quality out there, you can literally bring it anywhere and if you’re starting out and are on a budget you will learn well enough on this! Also it comes with serato light which a lot of other controllers don’t come with a program you have to buy it separate. If you expect to ever play a gig live most of the time they will have cdjs with serato on them so it’s great to start practicing with that program. ... show more

  • Ease of Use
More than what I expected! I'm 61 (yes, 61) and use to DJ back in the day when I was in the military. I got tired of just listening to my music, I wanted to play with it! Bought this controller and I don't regret it. A big step up from my Gemini mixer back in the day. You can create loops, stutter, play FX's, cue, sync, and scratch! This little baby has a built in sound card to hook up your powered speakers and a headphone out jack to cue your songs. This thing keeps me busy and I'm learning a lot! Well worth the money! ... show more

  • Good for the beginner dj.
I'm new to the DJ scene and I purchased this after watching reviews on youtube from seasoned DJs. This is a good starter DJ controller and headset. The controller is also good for entertaining in very small quarters. It has all the functions you need to mix songs. The free serato dj software is also very good for new DJs. However, even with my limited experience I know a more seasoned dj would want more functions. Also, it's almost impossible to scratch on. The headset is very basic and doesn't block out sound well. The sound is good enough to mix but not much more than that. I wouldn't even use these to listen to music for fun. Overall I think this is great if you know what you are buying before you buy it. Just be prepared to buy a more comprehensive controller in a few months if you decide to further your DJ career. ... show more

  • Great little controller
So far I've used it with virtual DJ and serato and it seems to be working fine. Sometimes I have trouble getting both outputs to work (IE headphone jack and main output) at the same time with a virtual DJ. Everything works great with serato. I'm going to be getting another one really soon for a friend of mine's daughter who wants to start DJing ... show more
