  • Great for GIGS!!!
Style: Hercules
The media could not be loaded. Hercules have always had an amazing product. My old Hercules sax stand hasn't died yet, but wanted to get another for my other saxes. Now, there's quite few reviews that mention that it's not sturdy. I was a bit hesitant to purchase because of that. I'm glad I did! This stand is a champ and the smaller brackets hold the sax just fine! I uploaded a video of picking up my tenor and placing back in the stand, then I shook it a bit. This stand holds on tight and it's very sturdy! My Keilwerth has a bit of a bigger bell than most saxes and this stand still does the job! Over all a great product and it is sturdy! Keep jammin'!!! ... show more

  • Great for both my saxophones
Style: Hercules
I own both a tenor and alto saxophone, and this stand is great for both. The stand is very stable, and I've yet to experience either saxophone even appearing to topple over with or fall out of the stand. The little Y-shaped piece that props up against the front of the bell is quickly and easily adjusted up and down for when I switch between my two saxophones. On my other stand, I have to unscrew the analogous part off and screw into another hole to accommodate the different sizes. The stand also folds up much smaller than any other stand I own, though it still doesn't fold small enough to fit in my alto sax case (it does fit in my tenor sax case just fine, even with all my other tools/accessories). ... show more

  • Pretty good, feels a little... loose/wobbly
Style: Hercules
There's a lot of play in the nuts and bolts and connections of the arms and neck, even after I tightened everything very snug, so that when you take the sax from the stand the top arm is not solidly held in place and wants to follow the sax forward until it hits where it can't rock forward anymore... just because it's loose by design. It's not that big of a deal, but I did rig a little strap going around the the front of the upright part of the stand and looped underneath to be able to pull the upright arm back as far as it can wobble and have it held there. It eliminated a lot of the play. The clasp mechanism seems OK, I never had a non moving variety actually, but sometimes I wonder if it would be easier to get the sax free without the clamp thing trying to tighten as I'm lifting it, causing the stand to want to lift up too. I know I know, if it's keeping the sax in there better, that's a good thing. But once the sax is clamped in, it wouldn't seem to matter for sideways falls or bumps or anything realistic happening. The clamp thing only prevents it from coming out in an upward way (from what I can tell), which I imagine would only happen when I'M trying to get the sax out. I'm still a little unconvinced of it's benefit, I wish I had a solid one to compare it too honestly. It folds up pretty compact, little travel bag. I'm pretty satisfied but wonder if there are better feeling/operating ones out there. I give it a C+...this stand is a 76 ;) ... show more

  • Hercules stands are all good
Style: Hercules
I ordered this after researching all products, and I own Hercules guitar stands And they’re all great so I ordered the sax stand and the first one was Disappointed but ordered another returning the first Thinking it must be a defect and I was right the second one came in and it’s beautiful and I ordered the extended flute clarinet and trumpet attachments and it’s fantastic for me it’s what I wanted and compact. It’s plenty sturdy under normal conditions ... show more

  • You think the sax is gonna fall out, but it never does.
Style: Hercules
The mechanism clamps around the top of the bell using gravity to hold it in place. There are no springs or detents. The horn seems to be riding loosely on top of the stand, but I've bumped it a few times and the sax stays in place. There are caps which come off and reveal threaded holes for clarinet, flute, etc. You can buy screw-in holders for various instruments. All-in-all a good buy. I've never folded it so I gave it a 4 for that. ... show more

  • Super Safe Sax Stand
Style: Hercules
I've been using sax stands for a LOT of years (40+) and have used Hercules stands for the past 5-6 years, as they make a very durable and easy to transport stand. I play soprano/alto/tenor/bari saxes on many gigs. One of the things that always made me nervous on gigs was that the Hercules (and almost all other) sax stands did not really "secure" the horn. What I mean is they were pretty stable, but the "grip" on the bell was not consistently "snug" without being so tight you couldn't pick up or place a sax out/in the stand quickly and safely. This all changes with the new design!!! Just to see how well it does hold the horn in place when in the stand, I put my alto sax in the stand the picked up the stand/sax and held it by the upright bar...and turned it over to see if the sax stayed in place (of course my test had a hand ready to catch the horn if/when it fell out of the stand.) To my delight, the horn stay in place without ANY movement!!! I guess I could actually walk around carrying it by the stand's upright bar...but I'm not that brave! This is a great improvement of an already really fine sax stand! I expect they will update all versions they make to incorporate this new bell "grip" mechanism...at least I hope they do. My recommendation is that you buy this new model...if you love your horn. It's definitely an excellent investment and will keep your "baby" in place much better! ... show more

  • Great sturdy alto sax stand
Style: Hercules
After my son's last alto sax stand collapsed under the weight of his sax, we searched for a new sturdier one. So far, this is it. It clinches on to the sax when the sax is in place so the sax doesn't move. The stand is sturdy and doesn't lean when in use. Good price for the security of keeping the sax safe. We are very happy with this purchase. ... show more
