Description

SnakeSkins are a patented instant stuff sack system that collapses your Hennessy Hammock in about 30 seconds. Your shelter never touches the ground, never gets dirty or muddy. It just disappears into two tapering tubes of silnylon which sit gathered on the ropes at each end of the hammock for amazingly quick set up and take down. For use with all Hennessy Hammock models. The 70 D poly hex fly requires an additional pair of snakeskins because the hex fly is bulkier than the standard rainflies. US Patent US6851137B2

  • Want fast setups and teardowns of hammocks or rain flys - use snake skins! Want fast setups and teardowns of hammocks or rain flys - use snake skins!
First off, snake skins are pretty light and make setting up a hammock and\or rainfly a snap. If you use these, the hammock or rainfly will never touch the ground itself which is nice when setting up. When it's time to tear down, it's just a matter of sliding them back over the hammock and throwing them into a sack. I use a sep. pair on a rain fly as well. I shake the fly off the best I can and use the snake skins for fast tear down. If needed, after a trip, I hang the fly up in the garage to dry more. I can't express how fast snake skins are for teardown so you aren't stuck trying to fold a large fly or hammock to get it back in to the bag. **The vendor that sells these on Amazon ships incredibly fast.** I use snake skins for a Hennessy Deep Jungle XL hammock and their Hex Asym Rainfly 30D rainfly. These weigh 2.3 oz (part #: 167) and will fit the Deep Jungle XL (this is one of the largest single person hammocks available) and the hex rain fly fairly easily. Hennessy also has another pair of snake skins that weigh 3.28 oz (#: P169) and have a wider diameter. If you use the Hennessy website or Amazon to order the snakeskins XL - you will receive the 2.3 oz version - you need to call Hennessy and specifically ask for the #169 version (which is currently only sold with the new larger hammocks). I use the larger diameter for the rain fly because I switched the stock cordage with thicker and longer pieces of paracord. Even with this change, these snake skins still worked, but it's very snug. The larger size just makes it easier to slide them off and on with the thicker\longer cordage. If you aren't doing any mods to the hammock or fly these will work absolutely fine for you - just posted the extra details for the people that use thicker paracord or bankline for extended trips to the woods. Hope this helps some one out. Attached a picture that shows the 2.3 oz version on the left (sold on Amazon) and the hammock version that you can get if you call Hennessy directly. **Again, if you haven't switched out the lines, this will work fine for you and shave a couple more ounces.** ... show more

  • Fast setup and keeps things dry Fast setup and keeps things dry
Size: Snakeskins Style: Snakeskins XXL
I use this for the rainfly, not the hammock because it makes setup very fast and a fast setup is important for the rainfly. My rain-fly is completely ready to go with ridgeline, shock cord, and pegs already in the snake skin. I simply attach one side of the ridgeline to a tree, run it across to the other tree, tie it down and slide back the snake skins. I can then quickly get the pegs into the ground to form the shelter. This is perfect in a rainstorm when you're trying to get yourself and gear out of the rain quickly. Another nice thing is if you're setting out in the morning after a rain, you can shake off all the water you can from the rain-fly and then slide the snakeskins over, stuff it in a sack and you're ready to go. Keeps the residual water out of your pack. Lastly, if you want to keep your rain-fly completely out of the way, but ready for quick use, just pull the snakeskins over (see photo). Weather this evening was reported to be good, so I wrapped up the rain-fly to enjoy the night-time sky. But if it started raining, I only needed to pull back the snakeskins and tie down to pegs I already had previously positioned in the sand. Adds almost no weight to your pack, very compact, convenient, good construction, easy to use. ... show more

  • Fits Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter and also the Hennessy Deluxe tarp (separately)
After reading reviews about how useful these snakeskins are for hammock deployment and storage, I gave a set a shot for my Grand Trunk Skeeter Beeter, which is a bulkier hammock than most due to the additional no-see-um mesh attached to the top of it. The fit was snug, but after a couple uses the snakeskins loosened up just a tad and now these slide over perfectly with a good 3-4' overlap in the middle. When the hammock is set up and hanging and these snakeskins are retracted up to my hanging straps, these help any wicking rain to run right off and not run into my hammock. I sprayed mine with some bug repellent as well, and they work great keeping trapeze artist bugs from going from tree to hammock. I picked up another set to use also for my Hennessy Deluxe hammock (the big 12'x10' one) and these snakeskins go over the tarp with ease. I couldn't get my tarp AND my Skeeter Beeter into one set of snakeskins, but not a big deal. I don't always need to carry the tarp, so it's ok being separated. Makes setup of my hammock take literally less than 1 minute, and takedown is only 30 seconds. I kid you not, and that's after only 3-4 practice setups. ... show more

  • It's a must have
Size: Snakeskins Style: Snakeskins XXL
I got this relitively quick after purchasing a camping hammock and it's worth every penny. It makes the setup and teardown 70% easier. The longest part of taking my hammock down was trying to fold/wrap it up decently in the poorly made bag it came in. With the snake skin I can pack away the hammock within 5 minutes whereas it would originally take 15-20 minutes before. ... show more

  • Facilitated Tarp Deployment, Recovery and Storage
Our Hennessey Hammock Snakeskins (HHSS) provide us with facilitated tarp deployment, recovery and storage. The XL version of the HHSS works well with our Clark Vertex Rainflies (Tarps). They are large enough to accommodate: 1) most other tarps that are designed for use with single person camping hammocks; and, 2) small/compact camping hammocks. They will NOT accommodate our Clark NX-250 Hammocks. For us, the onetime setup process was a straightforward and required approximately 5 minutes per tarp. There are countless videos that demonstrate the setup and use of this product, so I won't belabor those points. Instead, I'll leave you with the following impressions: 1) Hennessey Hammock SnakeSkins work as designed; 2) If you value your time, they are reasonably priced; and, 3) They are simple pieces of gear that pay multiple dividends (time savings, improved organization, etc.) with each use. If you're looking for ways to simplify, organize and accelerate the set and strike/break camp processes, you might consider giving these a try. We did; and, we have enjoyed and appreciate their use, especially when setting or breaking camp in the rain. Out. ... show more

  • An absolute must have for hammock camping
Size: Snakeskins Style: Snakeskins XXL
The build quality is incredible, especially given how things and light weight these snake skins are. We have 3 sets and have used them for years! The XL is big enough for the hammock, bug net and under quilt. We've used them with several different hammock set ups from Eno (Double Nest) to Walmart brand hammocks and found it works great with all kinds. Highly recommend for hammock campers! ... show more

  • Hennessy Snakeskins, work great on Hennessy Hammocks
Size: Snakeskins Style: Snakeskins XXL
Bought a Hennessy Deluxe Explorer, bought these snakeskins for the hammock, still fits inside original stuffsack. These skins fit the hammock as well as the standard rainfly that comes with them, they do not appear as if they will fit the hammock and a larger hex rainfly, but I admittedly have not tried that yet. They do not look like they will fit a hammock and UQ at all. Make for a quick and easy setup and takedown of your hammock. If you own a camping hammock I would definitely recommend these. ETA: I have tried using these with a larger hexfly and it will not work, I bought a 2nd "snake skin" for that. ... show more
