Worst buy ever , almost broke my hand one day and my ankle another , I have a powerful drill and the wood splitter gets stuck in the wood and require a big hammer tondi’s lodge it, looking at pics and videos of the product and this is truly false advertisement

I've used this splitter a bit now on semi split logs and to crack off some kindling as needed. My opinion is, have a heavy duty drill driver or hammer drill with a secondary handle. If you use it without one, and do not have the clutch set off drill, you could break your wrist when this binds in a log. Also, it is very helpful to have a well braced & sturdy footed cradle to set the log into for breaking up. Another key point is that when reversing it out of a bind, it wants to disassemble, the shank unscrewing from the body. This would be better served with either a pin or keyway. Found that if you try to bite off too much or drive thru too thick a log it really wants to jam. Just gets stuck, then removal sucks, like I said, the bit wants to reverse out without the splitter body. When it functions well, it does a good job breaking sections off split logs, but it is not good with whole logs more than about 4 inches, roughly the length of the splitting course. Also, to keep the tip from smashing, you need to work in the cradle, on another log, or have some other sacrificial surface that is far softer than the iron its made of. If you have a lot of kindling to break down, you may get a better return on investing in a power splitter, but for infrequent splitting, this isn't a bad deal, tho I should remark it has increased by 10% since I got mine. Still its a reasonable value considering the if used smartly, can save a lot of trouble over trying to maul split.

I don't believe this is a particularly well-made or useful product. You'll have to put in just as much effort just splitting by hand with an axe, and without requiring a power tool and putting wear and tear on it. Plus I just don't believe it can hold up much abuse, which is what you'll be doing to it when it inevitably gets stuck. If you're weak or feeble and hoping this would be an alternative to using a proper log splitter, it's not. Just get an electric log splitter. It's couple hundred bucks on sale, but it'll save you a lot of stress while also being a far more capable splitting machine. I think this is a gimmick and isn't worth the money.

Would only split very thin logs. Full logs would not split. Bit would jam hard in wood and would not back out. Don’t waste your money

The media could not be loaded. I've only used it with a 18v cordless drill. I've been splitting up to 4" diameter x 12" long sized pieces of kiln-dried firewood, so that can make smaller chunks for my meat smoker. The bit has worked great for that. I've tried it with Hickory, Cherry, and Oak so far. For safety, you'll need to secure the wood, against something, to keep it from spinning. Bigger pieces of wood will require both hands, firmly holding the drill in place. I clamped some small pieces of wood down on my workbench. Else it will just spin around once this bit bites into the wood. So it could be dangerous, or may not split the wood, if you don't know what you're doing. This tool isn't for amateurs. As for the bit, it is made of durable heat treated high-speed steel, with a removable hex head shank, that should fit most drills. Overall, this bit is good quality and very affordable. What I love, is that it doesn't have any coatings on it, such as paint, which can wear off on the wood, and make it unsuitable for cooking applications.
