Solid, sturdy, and allowing a great grip, it pulverizes spices in a second. When prepping it with rice as per the instructions, I was surprised as to how quickly it pulverized the rice. Upon delivery, I was missing the pestle, which is very important when you order a mortar and pestle set. Thankfully the contact info for customer support was on the box. I think I emailed at like 9PM PST expecting to hear from them the next day, and they got back to me within an hour and offered to send the pestle. All in all, I am happy with the product. The interior is rough to help break down the spices or herbs. The pestle has a bit of heft to add some weight behind the grinding and they included some none slip pads for the mortar. I should’ve ordered the larger size they offered though but that is my fault. ... show more

Very much as advertised. Fairly large capacity (officially 4 cups, but that's full to the brim ... practically, can use to prepare a couple of cups of product). Heavy, with a rubber bottom (so it doesn't slip around or scratch the counter tops). Grooves cut into the stone helps food in place when hammering / grinding contents, but still very easy to clean. Used it numerous times for various tasks - grinding spices, making pesto, and guacamole. Looks nice sitting on the countertop, as well. Very pleased with the purchase. ... show more

We do a lot of freeze drying. Eggs, vegetables, milk, and much more. This is perfect for grinding the dried items into fine powder for subsequent hydration. It's quite heavy which means I can really get the circular motion going during grinding without fear of sliding or tipping things over. I ordered this mortar and pestle, and it came in 2 days. Unfortunately, I only got the mortar and not the pestle. So, at this point it's useless. The mortar itself looks quite nice and solid. I'll update if and when customer service sends me a pestle, so I can actually use this thing and find out how it works. Edit: I luckily made an unboxing video when I got this, so I sent it to customer service. I got the mortar on Monday, and got the pestle on Saturday. It works well and is pretty solid. The packaging definitely needs improvement, though. ... show more

This makes the best pesto sauce I've ever made. Also great for grinding up spices for curry's etc. It's a nice size and heavy and adding the rubber mat to the bottom ensures it doesn't slip while in use.
