I found the best setting for the hammock when new is on the second notch down from the top. The easiest way to put the hammock on is to place the rings of the hammock on the holders from the side of the posts, and then to muscle the rope part of hammock to fit between the post after they are secure. Much easier then stretching straight over the top. This setting holds my 265 lbs easily in laying or seated positions without touching the bottom. Easy to put together and take down. Only thing that would be nice is the pillows and drink holder mentioned on other reviews not included with mine.
