Comes with 2 small ice containers to freeze water into discs. It shaves the ice perfectly just as if we had gone to a vendor selling shaved ice at the county fair. It is very easy to use just pop the ice disc out of the container, put it in the top of the machine, replace the top and press down on the large gray button. I would recommend using both hands when pressing down to keep constant pressure pushing down on the top of the machine to help keep it steady going. There 2 drawbacks: one being its noisy and may scare your pet (our cat runs out every time we use it and our dog barks because she knows she's getting an ice treat. Two, it does not use the entire disc of ice, leaving a thin disc about a quarter inch thick which is fine for us as we break the and use it in drinks or give the whole disc to the dog who loves chomping down on ice.. We usually mix tea, soda or juice for a nice slush drink if we want flavoring added. Most of the time, just eat the shaved ice plain. I would not recommend using ice cubes, it will wear out the blades, strain the motor, and will not produce the same shaved ice as what the discs provided will make.. Overall its a great product for at home shaved ice without all the sugary syrup added from commercial vendors. ... show more

Love the shaved ice it makes. Not crystallized like many snowcones. This turns out more like snow with a small crunch. It's my go-to snack when I want something with zero calories. Or if I need flavoring I sprinkle with my favorite juice or lemon flavoring. Easy clean up. Not very noisy. Added ice cups make every cube of ice the perfect size. I’m 7 months pregnant and snow and ice have been my biggest craving. I eat about 4 snowcones per day. This machine has been the best pregnancy purchase I’ve made! I initially bought a cheaper Nostalgia machine but it had plastic parts that broke within two weeks under the constant use. This one is reliable and fast, and I’ve figured out a technique to get the perfect shaved ice from it. It comes with two plastic molds for making ice cylinders. The instructions say to leave them on the counter for a few minutes to let them melt before grinding, but I’ve found that popping them right into the machine from the freezer makes “dryer” snow. If you tap the mold on the counter 3-4 times it loosens up the ice block enough that you can turn it upside down and shake it into the machine. Then you apply HARD pressure continuously on the top of the machine to grind it down fast. It takes about 20 seconds to make a perfect bowl of snow. Make sure you dump out the extra ice from the machine and put a bowl under it to catch the drips. I also leave the top grinder portion off to prevent the blade from rusting. ... show more
