    • There's a reason they are cheap
I don't like the term "you get what you paid for" but there are some things that that is the best way to describe them. I realized these would be poor quality because they were cheap but I didn't realize how poor. The two main issues: The do not hold an edge and dull EXTREMELY quick. The handles are low quality and one of the tools has already broke. The main concern here is that when you are turning, and a tool handle breaks, that can send the metal portion of the tool flying in a random direction. One last nit-pik is that that are uncomfortable to use, the handles are too short and they are weirdly light. Spend an extra $20 and get a better quality set, you'll be saving money. ... show more

I bought these for my son who just started turning. The variety of chisels for the price makes this a great value. The chisels are all sharp and seem well-made. Time will tell how they hold up but very happy to start the journey with these.

This set of gouges worked well to turn a table leg. The only improvement suggested would be to make the handles longer.
