This is not my first time working with window film, but this one is a good bit thicker than I'm used to, which made it a little more difficult to work with. I had four windows to cover and some worked better than others. The directions (which were printed in multiple languages and easy to follow) suggested that you leave an extra inch of overhang on each side. This proved to be WAY too much to work with and caused a lot of problems. I found that half an inch was plenty. It also suggested that you spray both the window and the film very liberally with water. I found that too much water created slippage and too many bubbles that you spend forever chasing with a squeegee. I went to art school, so I'm no slouch with an x-acto blade, but trimming this stuff was no joke! It's thick so you need a VERY sharp blade, and even then, you need a steady hand. I worked hard to get this to look good and you can really only see the flaws in the light, but bubbles abound despite my diligent efforts. I'm not sure if it was the product or my application technique. It still looks leaps and bounds better than it did without the film and for the price, it's a huge upgrade in decor. ... show more

I used this on our bedroom windows. The roll wasn't enough to cover the full windows, but I didn't want to anyway. I just covered the bottom half of our two windows and it used the whole roll. The film is textured, and it kind of reminds me of sandpaper. The side that sticks to the glass is smooth though. I did not like smoothing it out with my hand because it felt like I was rubbing a sandpaper. It didn't hurt or anything, it was just uncomfortable for me. I didn't do the greatest application job, but I didn't care about getting it perfect. I applied it quickly, so some of the edges aren't on the best, and there are a few gaps here and there. The instructions are pretty straight forward. Cut it to the size you need, clean the window, get the window wet, peel the backing off the film, then apply to the window. With the film on the windows, it's impossible for people to see inside our apartment windows at night through the areas that are covered by the film. We can't see out it either, but the light is able to come through. The instructions it comes with are inside the roll of film. It recommends cutting a larger piece and trimming it after it's applied. I didn't want to do that, also it's pretty wasteful, so I just measured the windows and used a permanent marker to draw lines on the film backing, then cut it. There are a few minor gaps doing it this way, but it still does the job and ultimately gave me the ability to cover more of the windows since I didn't cut the excess film. Overall, it works great. I'm pleased with the result. It looks good both inside and out. I like that I no longer have to worry about people seeing in through the windows day or night, but especially at night. We have a lot of people that pass by on foot and by car or bus, that could easily see into our apartment before I applied the film. Now they can't, so I'm pleased. ... show more

This Haton window film has a very realistic look of true frosted or sand blasted glass. It even has the feel. Application is not technically difficult; just wet the window and film, position and smooth/squeegee. The film has no adhesive, it clings by static between the glass and the plastic film, and so it can be repositioned or removed without harm or onerous cleanup. The quality of final results however requires great attention to detail. Measurement is critical as is cutting to fit. You must use a new, sharp, exacto type knife or box knife. It is best to cut a piece of film slightly (½ to 1 inch) larger than the window to be covered and then to trim in place. Window frames are known to be slightly out of square sometimes and this can lead to gaps if you try to pre-cut. If you take your time and attend to every detail you will end up with an application that can’t be distinguished from actual frosted glass. My photo shows the difference in transparency when just a couple of inches away from the film. This film provides very good privacy. ... show more

This did a nice job on a large window on our back door. I had ordered some linen curtains to place over it, but they were a bit thinner than I'd planned. I wanted light to come through as it's in our kitchen, but I also wanted privacy. I don't like it when someone comes to the door and can easily see inside. I ordered this film to place on the sections on the window (it's divided into 9 sections). The film cut easily, and was fairly straightforward to apply according to the instructions. The backing on the film is a bit tricky to remove. It gave a tip to use a piece of Scotch tape on the corner, and that really helped me peel it off. This gave the added privacy I wanted, while allowing plenty of light to come through the window. As I mentioned, I do have some linen curtains over the window as well. If I had only the film, I'm not sure it would've been as much privacy as I prefer, but it might be fine for others. I like quite a bit of privacy. The film has adhered well to the window. It's not peeled or fallen. It's already gone through a variety of temperature changes on the window as we had a few abnormally warm fall days before returning to cooler weather (including some freezing temperatures at night). And it's remained on the window through all of that. I do recommend this window film. I don't think you'll be disappointed. ... show more
