Praised for its illustrious design, the Harman Kardon® SoundSticks® speaker and subwoofer system became a milestone in design history when it joined the permanent collection at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). Now an improved incarnation, the SoundSticks Wireless, delivers the same visual appeal plus integrated Bluetooth® technology. You still get the same breathtaking sound and eye-catching design, only now you can stream audio from Bluetooth-enabled devices. Featuring a six-inch subwoofer, eight full-range drivers, 40 watts of amplification and built-in Bluetooth technology, the 2.1-channel multimedia powerhouse brings new excitement to music, games and movies. Technically, the SoundSticks Wireless system is “multimedia,” but once you hear it perform, you’ll realize that it could easily become your primary audio system. With 40 watts of amplification producing rich, realistic sound, the SoundSticks Wireless offers strong bass output that will make all your music sound great – no matter what source is generating the music. And with the SoundSticks Wireless’ down-firing subwoofer amplifiers matched to its satellite speakers, you can rest assured that each speaker will get exactly what it needs to deliver consistent, optimal performance. Let’s face it, most of our audio devices are Bluetooth-capable. And we’re not using them just for music; we’re watching movies, playing games and accessing social content. Using advanced HARMAN TrueStream™ wireless technology, you can connect your Bluetooth-enabled devices such as your tablet, phone, MP3 player and laptop to get the best possible wireless sound quality from all of your audio, not just your music. And it automatically switches to the Bluetooth system when your audio device is connected and playing. So whether you’re working away at the desk or streaming music while lounging on your comfy sofa across the room, you’ll still experience the same high-quality Harman Kardon sound you’ve come to love. HARMAN TrueStream is our guarantee that you will experience the best possible listening experience when streaming wirelessly via Bluetooth technology. Because there are many connectivity options when it comes to Bluetooth technology, our engineers always use the most current and most advanced. This method ensures the highest quality sound no matter the application or source device. Few multimedia sound systems can boast that their predecessor is part of the permanent collection at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), but that’s exactly the claim the SoundSticks Wireless speaker system can make. Taking its older sibling’s celebrated design even further, the new SoundSticks Wireless’s look is cutting edge, with a modern industrial-design aesthetic, elegant black accents and a luminescent white LED glow. And though the SoundSticks Wireless system may look like a visitor from the future with its transparent speaker covers, its exceptional performance makes it a more than worthy successor to the original, famous SoundSticks system. Though you keep plenty of songs on your Bluetooth devices, that doesn’t mean that all of your music is there. So we’ve ensured the SoundSticks Wireless’s compatibility with other sound sources. Thanks to its 1/8-inch (3.5-millimeter) stereo audio connection, you can use the SoundSticks Wireless speakers with nearly any device that has stereo line-level outputs. By offering you this user-friendly option, the SoundSticks Wireless is more than just a gorgeous addition to your desktop, bookshelf or entertainment center. It also keeps your life simple with a maximum of connection options – and a bare minimum of wiring. The SoundSticks Wireless system makes it easy for you to interact with its subwoofer and satellite-speaker “sticks,” offering sensitive touch controls for raising, lowering or muting the system volume. By responding to the gentle touch of your fingertip, this intuitive design feature makes your SoundSticks Wireless system easy to operate and keeps this work of audio art in the best possible condition. In addition to 40 watts of amplification, the SoundSticks Wireless system also features a 6-inch (160-millimeter) down-firing subwoofer with volume control. By aiming sound down instead of sideways, your subwoofer makes your system less susceptible to adverse room variables – and gives you consistent performance. The subwoofer also has a flared port that reduces port noise during high-volume audio passages. This feature helps you tailor sound levels based on your room’s specifications as well as your own listening preferences. Harman Kardon products have a rich history of beautifully engineered sound. The SoundSticks Wireless system is no different, coming with eight full-range transducers (four in each satellite speaker) and deftly filling your room with great sound while increasing your power handling and audio output. With low distortion and high sound quality, the SoundSticks Wireless speakers ensure that you’ll hear music or video exactly the way its creators intended. Elegant and easy to use, the SoundSticks Wireless satellite speakers are designed to fit exactly where you want them. Aim these slim, small-footprint “sticks” at the desk where you work or at the comfy couch across the room where you take a break; either way, the SoundSticks Wireless’s “sticks” will give you great sound. The SoundSticks Wireless system strikes the perfect balance between beautiful sound and elegant design. What’s more, it allows you to access all the audio on your favorite devices conveniently and without a hassle, thanks to integrated Bluetooth technology. The system lives up to a powerhouse tradition; from the world’s first stereo receiver (the Festival® TA230) to the incarnation of the SoundSticks system that has become part of the permanent collection at New York City’s Museum of Modern Art, Harman Kardon engineers have consistently advanced the science of sound, developing magnificent audio products that are dedicated to quality and durability and, most importantly, generating rave reviews from audiophiles. abunda_amazon_reviews Sound is great, appearance design is good. I have had these speakers for over a year now and it's working great. But.... there is no access control for the bluetooth, anyone can connect to it as long as the speakers are on, and there is no way to turn the bluetooth function off. I use these speakers mainly for my PC playback(wired), and bluetooth when I want to play some music from my mobile devices. Bluetooth operating distance is around 30-60ft for this speaker, and I live in an apartment which means next door and up/downstairs neighbors are able to connect to this speakers by accident. You can block other people from accessing the speakers by connecting your own bluetooth playback device and leaving it there, but the problem is most playback devices have power saving functions and will turn off its bluetooth if not in playback mode, and there will be a ~5 second shutdown for the whole speaker whenever a bluetooth device connects or disconnects. Occasionally when I'm listening to background music at night doing some work, a random neighbor connects to the speakers by accident and out goes some music full blast which gives me mini heart attacks as it is totally unpredictable. It happened just a few times within a year that I got this speakers, but the experience is bad enough I am considering replacing the speakers already. I would have gotten the non bluetooth version if I knew that the bluetooth was unprotected.;;Reviewed in the United States on December 25, 2016;;3.0 out of 5 stars;;Recommend the non bluetooth version for people who lives in an apartment.;;Jace;;;UPDATE: 3 years later these speakers are still trucking and they sound just as amazing as the day I wrote the original review. I seriously cannot recommend these enough they have not given me a single issue. This is an investment which has already paid off and when these die I will be going Harman again. These are the best speakers I have ever owned, and this is coming from a Bose girl. Im not an audiophile so take that into account. The bass is EXTREMELY powerful to the point where I have to turn it down otherwise it shakes my mouse and makes it go crazy on the screen. It sounds AMAZING especially when I play video games. One of the best parts has to be the looks. This looks like something out of an alien movie and gives my modern themed room, even more edge. Ive had it 2 months so far and no problems at all with it. The bluetooth feature is definitely worth the extra money since I can alternate between playing music from my phone or my computer and since I power my desktop with my SurfaceBook laptop it takes a huge load off the Surface Dock because it used to disconnect all the time when it was powering my old speakers. Overall this was worth every penny and I recommend them to everyone. *I have NOT received any product free or discounted for review. Thus, all opinions are strictly my own. As someone who relies solely on reviews when making a purchase, I know how crucial they can be and I hope mine helped you when considering this.;;Reviewed in the United States on December 15, 2016;;5.0 out of 5 stars;;AMAZING SPEAKERS;;Khalysee;;;NO Bluetooth security. That means ANYONE can connect to your speakers ANYTIME THEY ARE TURNED ON and control them. Your neighbors can connect via Bluetooth in the middle of the night and stream ANYTHING IN YOUR SPEAKERS. You can’t even turn off the insecure Bluetooth! WTF?! This is an absurd security issue I can’t believe made it’s way into a released product. Further the manufacturer’s response (Harman Kardon) has confirmed via email tech support they NO intention to fix - EVER. DO NOT BUY.;;Reviewed in the United States on June 27, 2019;;1.0 out of 5 stars;;NO SECURITY - YOUR NEIGHBORS CAN ACCESS YOUR SPEAKERS ANYTIME!;;M. Fitzgerald;;;Update: I have since discovered the fault for the hissing and it is in something called a ground loop which causes audible interference in speakers. I decided to bunp the review up a star for this being a faulty electrical problem in the apartment complex. It was only very noticeable in the Soundsticks due to their use of several small speakers picking up the unusually high frequency of the hiss. Standard monitors or others of similar design still produce the sound but are not as easy to notice. However, there is still a possibility these speakers are at fault as well because the hiss did not exist the first few days. The bluetooth working as it does is still a huge dealbreaker for me. So let me explain why I gave it what it got. Initially, I would've rated these very high because out of the box setting up and all that went smooth and they were immediately pumping out quality sound. So the problems with these are not the ability to create room filling music with tight highs, and rumbling lows. Shortly after my purchase I was greeted to a hiss coming from the satellites, at first I thought little of it, as it was very soft and thought maybe it was picking up some feedback from the computer, which was odd enough because the sound card is shielded for that purpose. The days went on, and I kept hearing it whenever I stopped playing music. Mind you, the music merely drowns it out so it was still audible whenever I watched a dialogue heavy video or turned down the music (the static was a constant hiss, this is important because it's part of the troubleshooting process). I troubleshot the problem. There were only two ways for me to stop this horrendous hissing. The built in "mute" feature or powering them down entirely. Why would it only silence itself when I mute it, but not when i turn the volume down? Why would it continue to hiss even when I disconnected it from the computer? Nothing I did would stop the hissing, at all. This infuriated me so much that I gave up and decided to return them. Tomorrow I will return them, and consider the alternative, the SoundSticks III, non-wireless edition. My theory is that, if it's not related to the touch controls, it's actually the shoddy wireless in the Subwoofer. Yes. The Subwoofer. See, when I disconnect one speaker (the touch panel one) the other speaker will still receive a signal for a second or two, and the hissing. The Bluetooth capabilities are garbage. I thought it'd be great! I saw that it would ask for a pass code in the manual and thought, hey that's perfect, now no one in my apartment complex can access them. Wrong. They never ask for a passcode, my neighbor connected mistakenly to the speakers because they are always in discovery mode. No option to change this. Otherwise, the bluetooth audio actually works fairly well, there are some issues with a delay and receiving intermittent sound from phones (causing a notorious pop and crackle) but otherwise, once the audio is going it's rock solid. See the thing about the Bluetooth on these is that they treat it like a mobile speaker I.E. the UE Boom, where the only way to lock the bluetooth is to be connected, thing is, a mobile Bluetooth speaker is portable and battery operated, it's used with the sole intention of being connected via Bluetooth randomly throughout the day and even auto-powers down when no audio is playing. These are stationary with an inconveniently placed power switch so should have a toggle feature for the Bluetooth or a security option, not merely a mute option. Anyways, these speakers are beautiful, they sound great, but the hissing which SEEMS to be isolated to the wireless model (I have found nothing stating the non-wireless model has this issue as well), is too much for me to tolerate. I will update this review with more information regarding whether or not this issue is just a common defect in the wireless model, or across both models. Recommend the non bluetooth version for people who lives in an apartment.
Sound is great, appearance design is good. I would have gotten the non bluetooth version if I knew that the bluetooth was unprotected.

AMAZING SPEAKERS
UPDATE: 3 years later these speakers are still trucking and they sound just as amazing as the day I wrote the original review. As someone who relies solely on reviews when making a purchase, I know how crucial they can be and I hope mine helped you when considering this.

NO SECURITY - YOUR NEIGHBORS CAN ACCESS YOUR SPEAKERS ANYTIME!
NO Bluetooth security. DO NOT BUY.

There's something wrong with these, fundamentally
Update: I have since discovered the fault for the hissing and it is in something called a ground loop which causes audible interference in speakers.
