It’s all about that bass! This speaker is gooooood! When playing, I’ve literally had people come from another room to ask what brand the speaker is. Bluetooth connectivity is easy peezy. The power that this little speaker puts out is top tier! Battery life lasts a looong time. I’ve played the speaker for 6ish consecutive hours. I’ve even turned the speaker on and off on several occasions after listening for a while and it holds battery well. It’s well built. I first want to say that I owned the 1st generation onyx before this one, so I know what to expect and it is a huge step up. The fact that this one includes all of the international outlet plugs for travelers deserves 5 stars off the bat. Also I want to make something clear, because from all of the comments that I’ve seen it seems like most of you are first time owners. The speaker MUST be plugged in to receive power for all of the drivers for max volume and clarity. Other wise you will just be consuming half of the product. Mine is always plugged in and I rarely take it out so battery life isn’t really a problem for me. The sound is so amazing, even at low volumes you still get little bass bumps. I also love that this one now has a microphone and connection for more speakers. These are 2 features that I really wanted when I had he 1st generation and I’m so glad it’s included now. I plan on buying at least 2 more for surround sound because they are really just that amazing. For the price, these are the best speakers you can buy. Just follow the directions, keep it plugged in all the time if possible and download the app as well.

Portability. Ease of use. Looks lovely. Setting up the first time was simple. As soon as I turn it on the pairing with my phone is smooth. And good sound. I use it on my balcony. Just enough richness at fairly low volume to have good listening while not pissing off the neighbors. One thing to note is to NOT try to dial in to a conference call line while it's already paired with your phone. Phone in first to the call with the speaker power off, and enter your access code. Then turn the power on the speaker and let it connect with your call. Doing it the other way will distort the connection with the conference line and it won't recognize your access code when you try to log in.

This is an EXCELLENT bluetooth speaker for a stellar price. For reference, I own/have owned the Bose Soundlink Mini and Color, Sony SRS-55, JBL and UE Roll. -The music coming from this speaker sounds incredible. I am not an expert by any means concerning speakers but I do know when the music sounds crystal clear, has great depth, good resonance and simply sounds wonderful. This is that speaker. It's like the same music but amplified in terms of detail; you almost feel as if you're sitting in a concert hall and you're rediscovering your favorite music again for the 1st time. I thought the Bose Soundlink Mini sounded good as well but had serious issues w/the bluetooth connection w/two separate units( one replaced under warranty) so decided not to trade up to a different Bose model. OTHER PROS: -Price is incredible. You can have one in every room. I don't know how they are selling such a stellar speaker for such a bargain. It's worth far, far more. -Music has great clarity at both high and low volumes. There's no trembling or distortion in the music at higher volumes. You just hear so much more detail w/this speaker than most. -Can connect to 2 bluetooth devices. I have the Sony which can only connect to one device. So I was always shuffling between my IPAD and IPHONE. It doesn't sound like a big deal to go to settings, select bluetooth, the device and press it BUT it was a bit of a pain. Now, they're both linked to this one speaker and I can answer calls on my iphone and then listen to my music from my ipad effortlessly. Not at the same time of course but it's great that the speaker switches between two devices automatically. Thank you. Saving these few seconds in my life every day - I have to laugh myself- has made a world of difference in terms of convenience. -This is a weird thing to like and I'm not planning on moving this speaker anymore but it has a really nice stable base with these two prongs or feet covered in this springy but still firm rubber. It's a hard thing to explain but it's a pleasure to place this on your desktop. There's no harsh sound or feel of plastic hitting wood or your surface - again, a nice springy, resilient feel is the best way to describe it. Nice touch and I think an indicator of how well thought out this device is in many ways by the engineers. Not cons but things you should know: -as other reviewers have mentioned, it's big. Like you've got a relatively flat basketball on your desk big. I have included a photo w/my monitor and mouse for comparison. It takes up a lot of real estate on my desk but you can place it in the back. I'm okay with this as the unit is white so it's not as conspicuous as it could be. -also related to the size. Yes, it's portable and there's a comfy handle in the book that makes moving the speaker very easy BUT it's large; not heavy, just large. So it's not something you're ever going to take w/you during a short trip or to the car. You MAY move it from room to room but at this price point, you may as well buy several and sprinkle it throughout your home. They have smaller models but the music sounds so good I don't want to chance getting a smaller model. -White color. For those that order the white and are potentially planning to move it from room to room, as mentioned, definitely possible but I hope your fingers are clean and you're not cooking close to the unit because I think it will get stained. Maybe you can dab the surface w/bleach but I consider myself a really clean, fastidious person and I thought I saw a shadow of stain after a couple of days (which I removed easily w/a dab of window cleaner). So my solution is to buy two more units so I don't have to move this unit. CONS: -I actually wasn't looking to buy another bluetooth speaker for the music. I felt I had purchased enough and they are all fine but I did want a speaker w/a stellar speaker function as I take a lot of conference calls when I'm working from home. Reviews indicated great conferencing ability and that I would sound crystal clear and that the call would sound clear. I don't find that true. The call sounds slightly muffled and the speakerphone functionality is no better than on my other devices and certainly not better than what I have on my iphone and ipad. This is the primary reason why I am docking one star. 5 stars for listening to music and maybe 2 stars for the speaker phone function but again the music sounds so good I'm rounding up to 4 stars. -What's w/the buttons? Placement might be okay on a smaller device but when you have a device as large as a basketball and you're sitting at your desk and you can't see the buttons or even really feel them, it's annoying. I need to reach BEHIND the front of the speaker to reach the invisible speakerphone button. Also the buttons are really far apart. The power button has got to be 9 inches away from the last button - bluetooth and even 6 inches away from a volume button. The spread is far too wide even when you're standing and when you're sitting, it seems ridiculous. So biggest opportunity for improvement for all end users I think would be too replace the buttons in a more visible location or at least w/easier access AND reduce the distance between each. It's clear that they wanted to array the buttons across the top of the speaker but it's just too wide of a distance. However, let me end this review by restating again this is a REALLY GREAT speaker to listen to your music. I'd forgotten how good music can sound. They must have some incredible components embedded inside of the device. I am going to recommend to all my friends and family members and will give this as a gift during the holidays. Last year I gave the Amazon Echo but this year I'm thinking it should be this speaker.

The sound is amazing and loud. I listen to it every morning while getting ready at medium volume for 30 minutes or so and rarely have to charge it. I plan on getting another one so I can have one inside and one outside for parties. It even connects effortlessly to my computer bluetooth where I have had difficulty getting anything, including my Bose headphones to connect to it. The only con I can think of is that I have not yet figured out how to tell what the battery life is at other when the power button goes red indicating low battery. My Bose headphones give me a percentage readout on my iPhone but this just says its connected (if somebody knows of a way to get the battery percentage to show please let me know).
