I was looking for a wax that had decent hold, made my hair easily shapabls, didn't clump my hair or leave residue like the pastier waxes do, and didn't make my hair look oily. When I first scooped up a bit of this wax (~dimed-sized) and spread it in my hand, I was dismayed to find that it had this gross, oily consistency to it. But when I took a leap of faith and spread it through my hair, it worked like magic. Has a decently strong hold to give my hair some structure/volume and, more importantly, leaves a nice texture in my hair -- it does feel kind of "sandy" (hence the name I guess?), doesn't feel oily at all, and holds true to its claim to give a matte finish. I have pretty fine hair and it tends to either require too much product to stay in place, resulting in a greasy mess… or too little which doesn’t stay. This product is perfect. I really love the hold and feel of this product. I have hair that quickly becomes oily and the dry shampoo in this product does wonders at battling the oiliness. This product has a very light - almost non-existent - hold to it, and if my hair isn't already in the shape I want it to be after blow-drying, this product isn't going to work wonders to get my hair shaped a different way. Don't expect this product to lay down your troublesome hairs that stick out. The downside to this product is that it is just absolutely awful to wash out. As soon as I get in the shower and wet my hair, my hair feels like damaged crap. It typically can take me shampooing my hair 2 or 3 times in the same shower to get this product completely out of my hair, and if I don't use conditioner after then my hair feels incredibly damaged. So the pros, if you have oily hair, this will prevent that from happening nearly all day long. But it's difficult to wash out and can leave your hair feeling extremely damaged after showering. ... show more

While it's not the cheapest option, I'm really liking the Hanz de Fuko Quicksand so far. There are a lot of putty, way, and clay products that offer varying degrees of hold without making the hair stiff or shiny. What is nice about Quicksand is that it offers just enough texture and hold without changing the appearance of your hair. It is a fully matte finish that will not make your hair appear wet, nor does it have any noticeable sent or greasy residue. Also, I find it quite easy to work with. It definitely has a little grittiness to the texture (like sand), but is easy to spread around on your fingertips and blend into hair. Quicksand probably would not work for long or particularly coarse hair, nor will it aggressively lock styles into place. They have a different product (Claymation) that probably would be better for that. But I like that Quicksand leaves your head mostly soft and reworkable while providing enough hold to style. ... show more

I love this product*.... *when its brand new and what I paid for. Today I received a very generously used cannister with a weathered outside and some fresh hairs stuck in the product top. The AI promt says I could mention "value for money," "easy to spread," or "scent." So....he goes nothin' Value for money: Terrible. I received someone's sloppy seconds despite paying full price. Do better. Easy to spread: No clue. Only thing that was easy to spready with this batch was another person's germs and/or DNA. Do better. Scent: smelled like someone else. Most likely the person who had originally purchased it in 2019. Do better 0 stars ... show more
