For the casual fisherman not looking to drop loads of money on gear, this is a hit. Do some Youtube research on lubricating spinning reels for starters and this reel will serve you well. At $15-$16, it's a deal.

I will say I was very impressed with the reel. It retrieves smoothly and is light weight. I'm using this reel on my medium light rod with a 8lbs line and it works great👍. I wanted to see how well it paired with the rod so I took it out to the lake and I caught myself a 6 1/2 lbs rainbow trout 🤙

This is a good beginner spin casting reel with solid construction and metal gears. The 3000 size is pretty versatile size, allowing you to go after several species from bluegill, crappie, trout, bass, walleye and even some smaller pike, and the drag should be enough to reel in your catch. This reel only has 3 bearings and you can definitely tell the difference between it and other reels with 7, 8 or more bearings. Granted those reels will be at least twice the cost, but it gives you something to grow in. This is the perfect reel to loan to someone just starting out fishing or a kiddo, that can be hard on equipment.

I wanted to give this reel a 5 star rating, but it has one nagging flaw. A stiff closing bail. Right out of the box closing the bail was stiff, in fact very stiff, but after working it several times it loosened up some. So I loaded it up with 10lb line, installed it on a medium action pole, and headed to the lake. I like this reel. I like the size, the weight, the feel, the 5.2:1 gear ratio, the drag, the simplicity, and for an inexpensive reel it is smooth. However, after maybe 100 casts, closing the bail is still stiffer than it should be. I have a half dozen spinning reels in every price range, and this one has the stiffest bail closure of all. Overall, I like it well enough to continue fishing with it, and I hope it will continue to improve, but a little more engineering would make this a great general use reel.

I was expecting much cheaper quality with a budget priced reel, this one looks pretty good, feels pretty good, though I have not fully tested out the drag system yet, it feels ok so far, relatively smooth braking but when it's buttoned down tight it feels like it is locked past the drag limit. The reel is pretty lightweight an machining looks nice. I ordered the 5000 size reel, it seems on the smaller side, more like a 4000. Spool size is good, reel arm and handle are comfortable, smooth while reeling. This reel looks like it is well worth the asking price, only time will tell if it holds up, but with routine maintenance this reel should do fine.

This is a pretty good reel and seems well built, the lever has a good snap to it and it reels line in smoothly and quickly. The drag is easy to adjust and the handle can be easily moved to either side of the reel without any tools. Most of the reel is made of aluminum or nylon so it is light weight and comfortable. The drag knob and knob holding the handle however seem to be a thinner feeling plastic, so you probably don't want to crank those too tight. I haven't used many spinning reels, but this one seems to be pretty good at this price point.
