It was kinda hard to set up and it gets jammed a lot. If you have an adult beginner I would say maybe they would like it if they have someone to help get them started and un-jam it for them. If you are buying this for a kid spend the money for a safer one. :)

It takes a little bit of time to learn the threading as it’s different from the full size sewing machine, but once you e got it, you’ll start to have fun. I use it to mend ripped pillows, hem skirts and pants, sew cloth grocery bags, and lots of other things that one could do with hours of time and a needle and thread. One of my worst purchases. I just wanted to shorted some bra straps and take in some hems. I just TESTED the device on some cloth and as soon as it started going the needle broke out of the device. For me, the biggest reason no to stitch something up is because it's too cumbersome and takes too much time.The mechanics of the device is quite simple, placing the spool on the short axle then placing the thread through two loops and then the needle.
