This thing is pretty awesome. You really don't need any sewing skills, and after just a small learning curve you'll be sewing in no time with this thing. We used it to fix several rips and also to sew some patches on some shirts. It worked great. Such a great time saver as well. It would have taken us hours for the sewing that we did if we had to do it by hand. Just make sure to practice on something that you don't really care about until you get the hang of it. Overall, this is a really great kit that comes with everything you need to get started. It's the perfect size for traveling with as well and I love that it doesn't take up too much space in our cupboard. Great value here as well, especially compared to other similar handheld sewing kits that we were looking at.

This handheld sewing machine is light and compact. It was easy to set up and the instructions were fairly simple with good illustrations. This machine requires 4 AA batteries (which are not included). Overall, it's effective and does its job. It works well with thinner fabric, but it definitely struggles a bit when there are multiple layers or over thick fabric like denim. I can now mend my pants much faster than sewing it by hand. I will recommend to others. This product also provided a bonus of a spindle, needle threader, thread, scissors, etc were a plus.
