Great for a kayak or portable use

This obviously isn't going to compete with the dedicated fish finder on my pontoon, but I wasn't expecting it to. For a portable unit that I can easily take out on my kayak, it works well. It gives a good idea of water depth and helps locate fish without adding a lot of bulk or complexity. If you want something lightweight and inexpensive for a kayak or small boat, this is a solid option.

Works good in my kayak

I floated the transducer behind my kayak as I paddled. It did a good job of reading the depth. Doesn't really show bottom contour like larger, more expensive finders but was good considering the low cost. The portability is a great feature. Just install 4 batteries and go - no connections to be made once the transducer is connected to the unit. Screen is easy to see in bright daylight. I didn't use it when dark.

Great unit for the price

Wow was I surprised. It was really easy to operate. Don’t need to mount it as I hung the transducer over the side for now. Fish alert works also. Don’t be fooled by the price.

Had this for a few years now. I use this on my float to be while fly fishing. Not the most accurate for actual fish finding. It’s great at depth and weed detection. Great for finding ledges and vegetation. For the price and my needs great value.

Wonderful little device! I was stunned by how clear it was to follow - we trolled it behind the raft and set the alarm to alert. Sure enough, it brought us to some great catches! It does go through batteries- although I’m sure it wasn’t built to stay on for four hours while we played!

Works well for a small boat

I have a similar unit so I bought this for my daughter after fishing at their lake house on a small boat. She told me that it works well. I should say that I am an experienced fisherman and really use it as a depth finder not a fish finder. Usually in a small body of water or even a good sized lake I'm looking for 8-10 ft. For bass it was 5-10 ft that I wanted and we caught several fish in 1 hr. I don't know how long the batteries last so I recommend bringing along some extras.
