An anemometer such as this is a great idea. Was excited to have one. Unfortunately, this one is rather inconsistent and glitchy. It's great when it works, but often it does not work.     • Doesn't Like Sunlight
I really wanted this to be a great product, it's inexpensive and came with a 2032 battery. The problem I had was that windspeed would not work on bright sunny day. I dd disassembly of vane portion to find it uses optical sensors. The orange plastic "fan" is quite translucent and the sunlight overpowered the sensors. By painting the outside of the hub of the fan with several coats of black acrylic paint, it now works everywhere except direct sunlight. When I get a chance ill open it up and also paint the interior of the fan hub, to see if that helps more. Maybe I just got a unit with weak or misaligned sensors? Anyway I gave it 2 stars because I enjoy this kind of puzzle. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I kind-of picked this up on a whim without a real use for it, yet. But I'm sure one will come up. This anemometer comes in a nice bag and all the bits you need to use it, including a CR2032 battery (it's power supply). The meter is very sensitive, gently blowing near it registers. Wind speed can be measured in meters/second or MPH, and there are also measurements for temperature, humidity and wind chill. The entire meter can be attached to a tripod or pole using the standard screw connector you find on cameras, although if you put this too far away from you, how will you read the display? This is suited for a stationary tripod more than a big selfie stick type of application. ... show more

    • Will not show wind speed when outdoors.
I know this is a strange one. I bought 2 of these and neither of them will Work outdoors. I tested them both inside with a fan and they show the speed, bringing the fan outside they show 0. Emails to the manufacturer are unresponded to.

    • Extremely handy for my use
I've been designing fan blades and 3d printing stuff for computers and air purifers so this device allows me to see how much air flow I really have and how much different filters effect it. Allowing me to modify my designs and being able to see in numbers a difference in performance. The device works really well and uses a small button battery which was surprising I expected a 9v or something. As for the accuracy I can't be 100% it's perfect but like I said before for my needs it gives me a data point to work with ... show more
