This thing is genius! First of all, the quality of the tool, blades, and packaging are very good. I've read negative reviews but I've had very good luck with it. It's not so much the knife that does the cutting but the fact that the friction causes the material (plastics) to soften a little bit, then cut by the knives. The cutting is very controllable (3 speeds) and makes a great cut. I even"drill" very tiny holes in projects with the knife tips. It does cut pretty slow (i think it's supposed to) but makes an almost perfect cut once you get the hang of it. The little bit of time it takes to cut is made up by the time saved by not having to file, and sand. I do allot of 3d printing and post production work (filing and sanding) and this cutter is exactly what I've been looking for. After reading reviews on allot of ultrasonic cutters, i was pretty reluctant, especially with the less expensive ones. I decided to get the Hanboost, which got the best reviews in this price range and there are a bunch of YouTube videos demonstrating the tool. It was the best $150 I've spent in a long time! The only 2 negatives are that the rubber sleeve slides around a little bit. I might put a dot of hot glue under it to hold it in place. The second thing is that the Allen wrench is loose and could be lost if the little for is open during charging. Other than those 2 very minor users, i love this cutter and the 2 issues are so minor, it doesn't bother me at all. I had a hard to cut 3d print support and this thing cut through it like butter!! Didn't know these knifes even existed. It actually works!! Essential if you 3d print a lot!! ----------- UPDATE: I turned it on today and it didn't turn on... battery is completely shot.. definitely bad QC... gonna return this and buy another model. when it worked it worked great.. ... show more

I was a bit skeptical about these ultrasonic knives but decided to try it anyway because the good old fashioned Xacto knife just wasn't up to the job. I've been using this one to trim 3mm - 6mm plywood when designing and building laser cut models, boxes, etc. and it's proven to be surprisingly good at the job. It's much, much easier to work with than standard Xacto style knives as long as you remember to take very thin slices. Taking too thick of a cut will damp down the vibrations and it will no longer function as well. When used properly it cuts through thin plywood like butter. It's made the job of trimming and fitting pieces together much easier. One word of warning, though. Dear lord those blades are sharp! I mean scalpel sharp. Even just brushing your skin against the cutting edge of the blade will result in an instant cut. ... show more

This is the second time I received this product, and it will be the second time I return it. Both times it didn’t work straight out of box ; and it didn’t work after a full charge. The only thing this is good for is a paperweight. The only thing I am getting out of this is two trips to the UPS Store. It’s garbage, don’t waste your time or money. Zero stars ... show more

    • Essential for owners of a 3-D printer
As a plastic modeler and 3-D printer user, I just want to say, where have you been all of my life. It's like having a powered X-Acto. It's a bit bulky so it won't replace your hobby knife for everything, but it works great for cleaning up 3-D prints and other detail work where you need to be precise. It's also perfect for removing parts from a photo-etch fret. I want to repeat what a couple of other people have said; when you first turn it on you'd swear it isn't doing anything. it's noiseless and there's no feeling of vibration. It's only when you start cutting that you see what a difference this thing makes. ... show more

    • No better than a regular razor knife.
This seems to be a well made item, but the supposed ultrasonic cutting advantage did not show itself. It cut the same whether it was on or off. I could hear the transducer, so I know it was on. It also heats up significantly, which limits the amount of time you can use it. In my mind, it's a waste of time and money. I returned it. ... show more
