It will work better than you think. Still waiting for something to go wrong from reviews i read lol used it maybe 6 times so far. Use the olive oil with it my suggestion.

So easy to use and leaves a clean taste to the popcorn for you to add flavor as you like. What I mean be this is the oil doesn't stick to the popcorn, love that I can have butter melt and rain down on the popcorn as it pops keeping it mixed in nicely.

    • How to not get your fingers burned by hot steam.
Bought one of these to replace a round style oil popper I bought years ago, thinking this would be better in every way, but it isn't. This one pops the same amount as the old one, not more despite its larger appearance. How to not get your fingers singed by hot steam when you take the popped corn to the sink to flip it over to put the corn in the lid: Unplug the popper. Now, look at the handles on the sides which are half lid and half popper where the lid meets the base. The gap between the two halves in the handle is filled with hot steam from the corn popping and the moisture seeping out in that cavity. Before you grab it, blow some air (hard) into each side handle to force that steam out. NOW grasp the handles and take it to the sink and carefully tip it over to fill the lid. You will be far better off doing this. One other downside to this design seems to be that the popcorn gets cool faster because of the more square shape of the lid. The fact that the lid is more wide open seems to let the heat escape faster, so the popped corn does not stay hot long. The red lid on the butter spreader (I don't use it that way) is of poor design. The lid has no lip to cup any oil, salt, or butter when you are using the popper lid as a serving bowl. Oil and salt will seep out from the lid area and make a mess underneath. I use wax paper or sandwich wrap paper on the couch to stop it from getting on the material. This is also a good idea for the rounded style poppers but they typically have the lid that does cup. The power cord on this thing is VERY short. About 2 feet one inch. Will be attaching an extension cord. The good things: It is very quiet compared to the old popper, and the lid fits with tighter tolerance on the base, which means no oil comes splashing out during popping. The closer fitting lid also seems to contain the popping sounds more as well. The stirring arm is very quiet compared to my old popper. Over all it works well. Update: Put this one away for reserve use and bought a new Stir Crazy by Westbend which doesn't seem to have all the negatives this one does. ... show more

This popcorn popper works great! My husband loves it. It makes the popcorn really fast and pretty much all the popcorn gets popped. It does not have an on/ off switch. This is the first popper we had that actually works good when seasoning the popcorn too. Very satisfied customers.
