Description

"This — Like Its Predecessor — Is A Class Act." – Janet Maslin, The New York TimesPicking up exactly where the first film left off, Halloween II follows the same ill-fated characters as they encounter the knife-wielding maniac they left for dead in the first film. The inhuman Michael Myers is still very much alive and out for more revenge as he stalks the deserted halls of the Haddonfield hospital. As he gets closer to his main target, Dr. Loomis (Donald Pleasence) discovers the chilling mystery behind the crazed psychopath's actions. Written by John Carpenter and Debra Hill, Halloween II is a spine- tingling dark ride into the scariest night of the year.DISC ONE (4K UHD):NEW 2021 4K Scan From The Original Negative Approved By Cinematographer Dean CundeyNEW 2021 Dolby Atmos TrackAudio Commentary With Director Rick RosenthalAudio Commentary With Stunt Coordinator Dick WarlockDISC TWO (Blu- ray):NEW 2021 4K Scan From The Original Negative Approved By Cinematographer Dean CundeyNEW 2021 Dolby Atmos TrackAudio Commentary With Stunt Coordinator Dick Warlock“The Nightmare Isn’t Over – The Making Of Halloween II” Featuring Rick Rosenthal, Dick Warlock, Composer Alan Howarth, Director Of Photography Dean Cundey, Actors Lance Guest And Leo Rossi, And MoreHorror’s Hallowed Grounds Revisiting The Original Shooting LocationsDeleted Scenes With Optional Audio Commentary With Rick RosenthalAlternate Ending With Optional Audio Commentary With Rick RosenthalStill GalleryTheatrical TrailerTV and Radio SpotsDISC THREE (DVD):Television Cut (In Standard Definition)Film Script (DVD- ROM)

  • Finally pristine.
Love the hard side slipcover and art as well as the original poster art reversible case. The picture has slowly improved with each release until finally, with this one, it's perfect. The Blu Ray picture-color, sharpness, detail, and black level is excellent. This is the 6th release I've purchased and, from how great it is, will be my last (thank god). The audio 5.1 DTS HD MA is even improved. All the previous special features from Shout! Factory's earlier releases are here. The previous steel book release was an underwhelming 4K scan from an interpositive, this is a 4K scan from the original camera negative and is a major improvement. This is the best sequel to date (Halloween Kills comes in a close second). Dean Cundey's masterful cinematography, matching the original, really shines and takes it to a level never again reached in the entire franchise. Highly recommended. ... show more

  • Shout Factory 4K is the Definitive Edition
The Shout Factory 4K is the Definitive Edition and a must own for fans of Halloween II. It's stacked with extras. The New 4K presentation of movie looks very crisp and detailed with vibrant colors. First disc is a 4K UHD presentation of Halloween II and offers a couple of commentaries for bonus features. Second disc is a Blu-Ray featuring a 1080p scan of the 4K restoration. All of the bonus features are found on the Blu-Ray. Lastly, the third disc is a DVD with the 'Television Cut' of the movie presented in Standard Definition 1.33 Aspect Ratio (Fullscreen), and a DVD-Rom copy of the Script. Some people have complained about the third disc not being a blu ray, but putting a movie presented in standard definition on blu-ray would be a waste of the format. The television cut is a great nostalgic addition for those who would like to revisit the movie the way it was shown on late night cable for so many years. Personally, I remember watching the Halloween movies when they would be marathoned around October on channels like AMC or USA. Having this presentation is a great way for me to revisit that experience and I think it's an awesome addition. ... show more

  • "Halloween II" (1981) 4K UHD + BLU-RAY COLLECTOR'S EDITION
Scream Factory releases this 4K UHD version of the popular sequel to the first "Halloween", the first of many, that comes in a sturdy, slide-in slipcover of this 3-disc set that includes all the extras from the previous releases, and looking superb in HD. Disc 1 is the 4K UHD that I am presently unable to view, though will update when that changes. Disc 2 is the theatrical version and previous extras. Disc 3 is a DVD that contains the edited TV version and DVD-ROM film script. ... show more

  • Great horror Classics that never do die!
Personally, Really Enjoyed that this series Of the Halloween franchise brought way much more suspense despite the previous film being more educational than suspenseful. Overall, great installment to the series! Collected 3 in total toward my collection and yet need 2 more to finally have all Halloween series. ... show more

  • More of the Night 'HE' came home!
The 1980's was definately the Golden Age of the Horror Film and the first Halloween ( still the all-time classic) single-handedly invented the 'slasher' genre. John Carpenter and Debra Hill had also made the most successful independent film of all time ( at that time-1978 ).The movie has now gone on to become a pop-culture phenomenon. It wasn't long before Hollywood and Dino DeLaurentiis came knocking, demanding a sequel. John was asked to return to the director's chair, but refused, saying,"I don't feel the need to try and top myself." However, both and he and Hill were interested in making a sequel primarily for financial reasons. They discovered Rick Rosenthal and put him in the director's chair. Universal screened the dailies and thought Rosenthal's version was too tame. Carpenter, who co-wrote the script, produced, and scored the film ( A masterpiece in itself) came in for a few nights and shot some new footage. He also cleverly shot additional scenes for the TV Version of the original Halloween since the NBC censors had cut out so much that the film no longer made any sense! "Halloween II" arrived in theaters in October 1981 and was a hit. I look at the original and part 2,as one complete story and one complete film. This is the way Carpenter and Hill envisioned it and it was to be the end of Micheal Myers. 'Halloween II' is the only good sequel, of course. The others are cheap rip-offs. Yes, 'H20' was offered to Carpenter, but he turned it down. Probably just as well. Part 2 has its scary moments and suspense, and the really cool revelation it makes about Michael's connection to Laurie is really outstanding. The way the film begins is exactly on Halloween night of the original. A knucklehead neighbor-next-door asks Dr.Loomis if its all been a 'joke' and that he's been 'trick-or-treated to death'. Loomis yells back at him,"You don't know what death is!" This has to be one of the greatest opening lines in movie history. Dr. Loomis( Donald Pleasance) interestingly has his opening credit just slightly lower than Jamie Lee Curtis' in part 2.) This one takes place mostly in Haddonfield hospital as Laurie is taken there after her attack. The unlucky nurses and paramedics feel the wrath of Micheal's rage. The blood and gore is considerably more graphic than in the first one. You have to consider the competition they had at the time, too. 'Friday the 13th-part 2','My Bloody Valentine', just to name a few, which were just as graphic. Jamie Lee is superb and gives a haunting performance as the tormented Laurie Strode. If you can locate someone who taped the TV Version of Halloween II, it includes some deleted scenes and extended scenes which give the storyline the extra flavor it needs. Leo Rossi as 'Bud' is halarious as the sarcastic, foul-mouth paramedic. Also look for Dana Carvey(yes, Dana Carvey) wearing the trucker-hat and vest as he's told by the pushy lady reporter to 'If you can't get their parent's permission, get a statement anyway." It's that time of year again-After trick-or-treating, watch the original first, then put the kids to bed and watch this one-Part II. Remember, the trick is to stay alive! Then, if you're really brave, watch Halloween III-Season of the Witch. Sadly, Micheal doesn't appear in that one. "Halloween II- More of the Night HE Came Home!" ... show more
