EDIT : The front louvres ARE adjustable. I just missed it when I was looking. It's a great unit. My house is a bit of a stone oven with direct sun exposure all day, including the hot late afternoon/evenings when it comes pouring into my west facing windows. My house was built in the late 40s and I have not been able to update to central air yet. This thing is a life saver! I have a small portable unit in my bedroom and this 14,000 btu unit in my living room. Between the two, my entire house stays cool and comfortable. I have 1275 sq feet total. The living room, dining room and entryway make up one large room with a doorway connecting the kitchen on one side and a hallway leading to the bathroom and bedrooms on the other side. The cool air from this unit is able to keep my kitchen, guest bedroom and bathroom cool as well as the main living area. I do have to crank up the volume on my TV when it kicks on, but it’s much quieter than my portable unit and the wall unit I had in me previous apartment. This thing is a beast at 80 or so lbs. it’s definitely a two person install, but it sits securely in my window and it was one of the only larger sized units I could find that can run on a standard outlet. The wifi works great and was easy to set up. The remote stopped working after a week, but might just need new batteries. I’m Not that worried about it. The only thing I would change with this is the front louvres are not adjustable, so you can not direct the air flow. Where my unit is installed, it blows cold air directly at the sofa, so I have to cover up with a blanket if I’m sitting on the couch while the unit is running. I’ve only had it for about a month and a half or so. I’m also running the bedroom unit and a fan in the bedroom and my electric bill went up like $10, is all. It seems pretty efficient to me. I would definitely buy this brand again. I love this thing!

This is the 2nd Haier AC unit we have purchased for the kitchen window. We had the first one for many years. Sadly, this one had the fins damaged in shipment. It seems to be working, though. Keeps our large kitchen cool.

I needed a very small unit to fit into a space already created for another AC that died on me ... and this fit the bill. (I have huge old wood-frame windows in a brownstone, so having to create a new space with wood fill-in panels, etc., was not appealing.) Since we were just swapping in a new unit, I can't speak too much about installation in general, but the included accordion side panels seemed like they would work well if needed. We used some white duct tape to cover the tiny openings left around edges between AC and the wood window frame. Have only used it for one day, but it is off to a good start. It took a little while for truly cold air to come out, but once it started, it stayed nice and cool and cooled down a small living room area fairly quickly. I was not bothered by the noise that some have noted -- seemed fairly par for the course with these types of window ACs, though if you focus on it, you will notice the slight "pinging" of the water on the condenser that's noted as being "normal" in the instruction booklet. The remote is basic but does what it needs to do. The only slight annoyance for me is that the digital display shows only the set temp and not the room temp (at least in COOL mode -- might be something that can be adjusted). I have not tried ECO mode yet, since I needed to cool my room off quickly after not having a working AC for a while. Delivery was quick (2 days, sent via USPS), and unit was boxed well and arrived in good condition. The USPS driver brought it up my steep front stoop, which I was grateful for. As I said, I have only had this for one day, but so far anyway, so good. Update: On further use (and after having gotten over my initial excitement over simply having ANY working AC), I will agree that this unit is on the louder side, as far as window ACs in my experience go. Still nothing bad, though (just need to turn the TV up a few clicks), and I remain very happy with the purchase. It's working wonderfully!
